What’s Hot: Beaux arts renovation at HGU New York

New York-based Alfa Development invested US$18 million in its first boutique hotel project, HGU New York, in the city’s NoMad District.

The hotel lobby preserves the history of the 1905 landmark beaux arts structure designed by architect Frederick C. Browne. Designer Peter Guzy of Asfour Guzy Architects and DD Allen of Pierce Allen Design managed the interiors in what the hotel calls a “mindfully designed and eco-conscious hotel.”

Highlighting a residential style of living, the entryway to the 90 guestrooms features soft tones, wood cabinets and furniture, and Turkish rugs. The lounge, 1905, has a fireplace original to the building will offer live entertainment and recording artist sessions, among other activities.

Guestrooms offer velvet headboards and luxury bedding, bath and beauty products.
