Hotel Equities’ new CEO: Atlanta-based Hotel Equities promoted President Brad Rahinsky to President and CEO. Fred Cerrone, founder of the firm, retains the position of Chairman. Rahinsky joined Hotel Equities five years ago.

 


Avalanche in Italy: An avalanche swallowed up Hotel Rigopiano, a luxury mountain hotel in central Italy, after a series of earthquakes in the area, burying up to 30 people under snow and debris, officials said. Italian media said three bodies had been retrieved from the site.

Hard Rock in Costa Rica: Hard Rock International announced plans to open the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Papagayo, Costa Rica in early 2018. The company is collaborating with North American tour operator Sunwing Travel Group.

Hilton flag in Denver: The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center in Denver will become the Hilton Denver Inverness in March. Locally operated Silverwest Hotels purchased the Inverness in November 2015 from Lowe Enterprises Investment Management. Two Roads Hospitality, which is based in Denver, will continue to manage the property.

Excellence in Jamaica: Excellence Group Luxury Hotels & Resorts is breaking ground on Excellence Oyster Bay in Montego Bay, Jamaica.The all-inclusive resort will open in the first half of 2018.

Hilton in Okinawa: Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton signed a management agreement with Chatan Hotel Management, a subsidiary of Orix Real Estate, to manage DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Okinawa Chatan. It’s scheduled to open in summer 2018.

 


Aimbridge in South Padre: Aimbridge Hospitality is the new hotel management company of the Pearl South Padre Island Resort off the Texas coast. The hotel has 200 guestrooms and 52 one- and two-bedroom condominiums.

 


Cachet in New York: Merchants Hospitality signed agreements with Cachet Hospitality Group to manage and brand the 510 West 42nd Street property as a Cachet Boutique New York Hotel. The 107-room lifestyle boutique hotel is scheduled to open in spring.

 


Ascott signs six in China: CapitaLand’s wholly owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited, will manage six properties with more than 1,200 apartment units in China. The new properties are in Changsha, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Wuhan, Handan and Xuzhou.

 


Hilton in Colombia: Hilton signed a management agreement with Corferias to operate a new-build, 414-room Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in the convention and exhibition center of Bogota, Colombia. It is scheduled to open in 2018, and is owned in partnership with Pactia, a Colombian private equity fund.
