What’s Hot: Nice’s Hotel Negresco adds bedrooms

Studio Marc Hertrich & Nicolas Adnet has designed seven new bedrooms for the Hotel Negresco in Nice, France. The hotel on the city’s Promenade des Anglais overlook the grounds of the Palais Massena.

The pair employed primary color palettes for contrast, including rose red with golden yellow finishes, bright yellows and royal blue, and teals and golden yellow. The design is classically inspired with a contemporary spin. They styled and constructed the furnishings with the hotel in mind, using polished white wood finishes on the floor and bronze embellishments to the furniture, supplied by M.E. Dupont, a French bronze manufacturer and craftsman.

Above the Louis XVI-inspired desk, a TV screen is hidden behind a “surrealist” mirror that was designed as a tribute to the painting “The Persistence of Memory,” by Salvador Dali, a client and friend of the hotel.

The headboard is a contemporary interpretation of Baroque-Venetian furniture. The pair attempted to create a link between the past and the present by using traditional elements, such as the wooden framed covered in gold leaf and silk damask, with an embossed bronze fabric and a cane motif for a modern twist. In each bedroom, a ceiling centerpiece showcases artwork from the collections at the Galerie Eric Linard. Similarly, work can be found by Frederic Bouffandeau and Jean-Michel Meurice in the various bedrooms.

The bright stripes on the bathroom walls reflect modern decor, with classic furniture and marble adornments.
