Deitemeyer lands at Interstate as CEO

Mike Deitemeyer has been named CEO of Interstate Hotels & Resorts.

His appointment at Arlington, Virginia-based Interstate, which manages 420 hotels around the world, ties up a loose end after news last week that Omni’s CEO, Jim Caldwell, would assume the president’s role at that company effective immediately. The press release didn’t mention Deitemeyer, who had been president of Omni for 13 years.

Deitemeyer, who starts the job March 23, has also been named to the board of Interstate, which is owned by Kohlberg & Co. He serves on the executive committee and board of the American Hotel & Lodging Association and is a founding board member and director at the Global Hotel Alliance. Deitemeyer began his career in the hospitality industry with Interstate.

“I am incredibly excited and motivated to join the Interstate team,” Deitemeyer said. “We plan to firmly establish the company as the undisputed market leader for third-party hotel management services, and I look forward to working alongside our associates and Kohlberg to achieve this goal.”

He’s taking over the CEO role from Jim Abrahamson, who will remain on the board of Interstate as non-executive chairman.
