What’s Hot: Dorchester reopens Rome’s Hotel Eden

Dorchester Collection is on the verge of reopening its Hotel Eden, the company’s property in Rome, which underwent an extensive 18-month restoration.

Built in the late 1800s, the Hotel Eden was bought by Dorchester in 2013 and has been closed since 2015 for an extensive restoration project.

Architect and interior designers Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille of 4BI & Associés, together with Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku from Jouin Manku, oversaw the renovation, involving 98 guestrooms and suites, an updated food and drink concept and the hotel’s first urban spa and blow-dry bar.

Originally 121 rooms and suites, the hotel’s reduced room and suite count was aimed to provide more expansive spaces for guests. Moinard and Betaille, who restored the lobby, rooms, suites and meeting rooms, accentuated the spaces’ natural light, further emphasized by the rooms’ high ceilings and tall windows.

Run by Executive Chef Fabio Ciervo, the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, La Terrazza, is located on the top floor and offers a Mediterranean menu with fresh and seasonal produce. Jouin Manku, responsible for the redesign of the restaurants and spa, draws on traditional Italian craftsmanship as inspiration with a fresco glass wall at the restaurant’s center.

Offering all day dining, Il Giardino Ristorante & Bar has light, health-concious options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including a selection of pasta, pizza and cicchetti. The bar also offers cocktails and signature wines, as well as a children’s menu and large sharing platters for groups. La Libreria lounge also has a “secret bar” providing classic and innovative cocktails during aperitif hour.

Also new to the hotel is the Eden Spa, offering a range of holistic wellness experiences and therapies from Sonya Dakar and Officina Profumo – Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. The new spa features three suites and a blow-dry bar, as well as a manicure and pedicure suite.
