Program announced for first SAHIC Cuba

The program has been announced for the first SAHIC Cuba, May 15-16 at the Melia Cohiba in Havana.

President and Founder of the SAHIC Latin America Hotel Investment Conferences Arturo Garcia Rosa said the topics of discussion will focus on facilitating meetings between groups of investors, international hotel chains, as well as insights into the opportunities that Cuba presents.

  • Over the course of two full days, the following topics will be discussed in general sessions and panel discussions:
  • Global and regional trends for the hotel and tourism industry;
  • Overview of the hotel and tourism industry in Cuba and the Caribbean;
  • Understanding the potential of the cruise market;
  • Hotel design and refurbish forum;
  • Supply issues regarding products, FF&E and general services for hotels;
  • Understanding how to do business in Cuba;
  • Hotel leaders’ “Hard Talk” with local hotel groups;
  • The investment climate in Cuba and business opportunities;
  • Technology and connectivity;
  • Airlift to Cuba.

SAHIC Cuba’s two keynote speakers are David Scowsill, president and CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council, and Cuban historian Eusebio Leal, who will set the stage for the conference.

The conference will also include SAHIC’s tradition of the successful Showcase your Project Series, a platform designed to highlight hospitality projects for development. Here the government of Cuba will present those in the pipeline. This session intends to promote extensive networking so that the right people may connect, discuss and develop full-scale projects.
