News in brief: Hotel Julian, Wyndham, Hakkasan Group

Hotel Julian: A redevelopment and adaptive re-use hotel conversion of Chicago’s Atlantic Bank building will be renamed the Hotel Julian, the flagship property of Oxford’s latest luxury lifestyle hotel brand. The US$75 million development will open in late 2018.

 


Wyndham: Wyndham Worldwide appointed Michael D. Brown as president and chief executive officer of Wyndham Vacation Ownership. Most recently, Brown served as chief operating officer of Hilton Grand Vacations.

 


Neil Moffitt stepping down: After five years as Global CEO of Hakkasan Group, Neil Moffitt will step down. The decision follows weeks of speculation around a proposed merger with hotel giant SBE, a move that would see the two companies create one of the most powerful global players in the hospitality industry. Moffitt will liquidate his interests in Hakkasan prior to the closing and those have been acquired by the current shareholder. 

 


ALHI: Associated Luxury Hotels International expanded its global portfolio with the addition of 45 independent luxury-level meeting and incentive-focused hotels and resorts located in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and South America.

  


Hyatt Place Milwaukee: An Illinois-based developer, an affiliate of Janko Group, purchased 0.7 acres of land in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with the plan to build a 150-room Hyatt Place hotel. Construction is expected to begin this month.
