Hot design trends for summer, fall

MatchLine Design Group, a Dallas-based interior design firm with projects that include a soon-to-open Delta by Marriott, an Embassy Suites and a Cambria Suites, as well as Studio 11 Design, which has completed everything from property touchups to full-scale renovations and new construction for Marriott, Hilton, Fairmont, Starwood, Kimpton, IHG and more have highlighted some design trends for this summer and fall:

  • Geometrics and enlarged floral prints: Find them on fabrics, carpets, artwork and more.
  • Classic modern: This style will still prevail, as designers find new ways to pay homage to the past with a fresh spin.
  • Mixed metals 2.0: Designers will mix warm metals, such as copper, bronze and rose gold, with cooler ones like silver. With manufacturers now rolling out variations of special metal finishes for their lines, the possibilities are endless.
  • Wellness oriented: Designers are tackling innovative health and fitness-focused amenities that aim to help guests maintain their routine on the road.
  • Multi-material flooring: A mix of materials – tile or concrete with carpet insets in strategically placed areas – are being used to visually break up open public spaces.
  • Relocating the bar to the lobby: The lobby is taking center stage. Walls between the bar and lobby are coming down, which in turn blurs the lines and brings the energy from the bar area directly into the lobby.
  • City-specific artwork: Locally sourced art and other design features help tell the story of the city in which the hotel resides.
