James Hotel backs out: The James Hotel has unexpectedly departed from a deal to put a property along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The move inevitably delays Top Chef contestant Chris Crary’s restaurant Farmspoke, which was set to open inside the hotel.

Six Senses into Ibiza: Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will open an Ibiza location, the Six Senses Ibiza, in 2020. Located on the Cala Xarraca Bay, the 134-room hotel will have townhouse suites, deluxe pool suites with private decks, beach cave suites and two six-bedroom mansions. Beach Box Ibiza S.L. will manage.

 


San Jose’s Hyatt Place sold: A New York-based investment group has bought San Jose’s Hyatt Place hotel – a sale that went for nearly US$19 million more than the property sold for in late 2014.

Billion dollar San Diego resort: Officials with the city of Chula Vista and port of San Diego are expected to sign a letter of intent this week with Rida Development Corporation to build a billion-dollar resort hotel and convention center. The hotel is expected to have more than 1,000 hotel rooms, 275,000 of convention space, and a lazy river. Gaylord Hotels will operate the resort once it opens.

Taj: Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace hotel in the city has acquired an image trademark, making it the first building in the country to get intellectual property rights protection for its architectural design. It will ensure that commercial use of the image of its dome and grand exterior can be made only with the consent of Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris.
