The expansion of Two Roads Hospitality’s Alilia brand into North America is close to becoming reality, as the company gears up to open Ventana Big Sur, an Alila Resort.

Set to open in fall, the California property will mark the first in the U.S. for Singapore-based Alila Hotels & Resorts, which Two Roads first launched in 2015.

The hotel, which closed in February following a mudslide, was originally part of Joie de Vivre Hotels, also owned by Two Roads.

Multi-millions have been sunk into Ventana Big Sur’s revamp, which includes a refresh of the 59 guest rooms, suites and villas, a full-service spa, two enhanced outdoor pools, and a new infinity-edge hot tub and outdoor Japanese hot baths.

The revamped resort also has a “glamping” element fitting for Alila, which Two Roads describes as “breathtaking, eco-friendly and surprisingly different.” The outdoor luxury camping, Redwood Canyon Glampsites, will be located in the resort’s 20-acre redwood-canopied forest.

Additionally, the resort will also get a Social House with three lifestyle spaces as well as new concepting for The Sur House restaurant.
