Briefs: Huntley slap on the wrist | Hyatt Centric heads south

Huntley fined for laundering: Upscale Santa Monica hotel The Huntley agreed to a US$310,000 fine for laundering donations to City Council candidates and committees in hopes of thwarting the expansion of a competing hotel, according to records. The hotel concealed 62 campaign contributions — totaling US$97,350 — to anti-development committees and political candidates thought likely to oppose the contentious expansion of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, according to the Fair Political Practices Commission’s enforcement division.

Hyatt Centric in South America: A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with Talbot Hotels S.A. for two Hyatt Centric hotels in Lima, Peru and Santiago, Chile. Expected to open in early 2018, the two hotels mark the introduction of the Hyatt Centric brand to Peru and Chile. Hyatt Centric San Isidro Lima is located on Avenida Basadre in the heart of the San Isidro municipality, one the most upscale areas of Lima. Expected to open in January 2018, the hotel will offer 254 guestrooms, and will be surrounded by numerous art galleries and high-end retail boutiques, as well as some of Lima’s top-rated restaurants and bars that will inspire guests to explore. Lush landscaping and wide-open plazas are also prominent in this area adding to the charm of this vibrant neighborhood.

 


Inverlochy Carribbean: Scotland-based Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), solidly rooted in Scotland up until now, has launched a new hotel management company in the Caribbean – The Liming.

 


IntercityHotel Frankfurt: Deutsche Hospitality will open The IntercityHotel Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof Süd in the beginning of 2019. With 400 guest rooms, six conference rooms, a bar and restaurant, it will become the largest hotel to operate under the IntercityHotel brand and will also feature the new interior design concept created by the Italian architect Matteo Thun.

 


Vienna House in Warsaw: Vienna House plans to open a 164-room hotel in Warsaw’s Mokotów business district in summer 2018. The new hotel, Vienna House Mokotów Warsaw, is being positioned as a casual 4-star superior business hotel with a combination of industrial design, modern, green guesthouse culture and a culinary journey of discovery that is based on sustainability values.
