People on the Move: Week of August 7, 2017

They’re at it again. Here’s the hospitality people making the moves this week.

St. Kitts Christophe Harbour named Ketut Agustika as executive sous chef of both The Pavilion Beach Club as well as the hotel’s beachside bar, Salt Plage. Most recently, he spent the last 12 years throughout the Caribbean, including Antigua at Carlisle Bay and most recently at The Pink Sands Club on Canouan Island where he was executive chef.

Dr. Michael A. Brabetz was appointed medical director of the Waldhotel Health & Medical Excellence at the Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne. For the past five years, Brabetz was head of internal medicine at the Clienia Littenheid Psychiatric and Psychotherapeutic Clinic. From 2000 to 2012, he practiced medicine in the Canton of St. Gallen.

Inn at the 5th, a luxury boutique hotel located in Eugene, Oregon, named J.B. Carney as general manager. He has served in a variety of positions at full-service and select-service Marriott and Intercontinental Hotel Group properties, most recently as general manager at a hotel in Eugene. 

French-born Michel Cottray was appointed GM at Steigenberger Wiltcher’s in Brussels. Cottray gained his experience in countries like Germany, Luxembourg, Monaco, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Australia with international hotel brands such as the InterContinental Hotel Group, The Luxury Collection of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Le Meridien, Westin, Sheraton and Sofitel.

Texas-based Hotel Granduca Austin appointed Ray DeJohn director of sales and marketing, Angie Lime as sous chef, Jonathan Ludlow as food and beverage outlets manager, Erica Camarillo as catering sales manager, Gerald Guerra as controller, and Dillon Magnuson as front office manager.

Marriott International appointed Paul Gallop GM of Four Points by Sheraton Auckland, set to open in December and the first Marriott International hotel to open in New Zealand. Gallop joins Marriott from the Grand Millennium Hotel Auckland, which rebranded from the Rendezvous Hotel Auckland in 2016, where he was general manager for over three years.

Proper Hospitality, which opens its flagship hotel in San Francisco in summer, appointed Lorenz Maurer, Xavier Bon and Frederique Falour-Yalniz as the property’s general manager, director of sales and marketing, and director of human resources, respectively.

Hotel Colonnade in Miami expanded its executive team to include Ian Robert McClendon as GM, Alexa Almirall as culture manager and Rachel A. Tyndale as sales manager.

Grupo Piñero, the parent company of Bahia Principe, appointed Encarna Piñero as chief executive officer. She will maintain dual responsibilities as the company’s vice president, a position she has held since 2007. Before her appointment as VP of Grupo Piñero in 2007, she held various leadership roles in the contracting and sales departments of its hotel division.

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa announces the appointment of seasoned hospitality professional Nils Stolzlechner as general manager. Born and raised in Kizbuehel, Austria, Stolzlechner grew up helping his grandparents operate their family-owned hotel. After pursuing an athletic career with the US Ski Team, Stolzlechner returned to San Francisco as director of food & beverage at The Westin St. Francis. Stolzlechner holds a degree in hospitality management from the University of Innsbruck in Austria.

Omni Hotels & Resorts named Daniel Surette vice president of sales. Prior to joining Omni, Surette worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. for more than 15 years.

Millennium Hotels and Resorts appointed Howard Wu president of North America and chief technology and solutions officer. Wu previously held the position as an independent non-executive director at Millennium Hotels and Resorts.
