People on the move: Week of Oct. 9, 2017

Director of banquets, weddings and event sales manager, director of spa, chief operating officer. The people making this week’s moves.

Colorado-based East West Destination Hospitality promoted Jeff Andrews to vice president of operations for Vail Mountain Lodging and has additionally named Jeff O’Brien to serve as one of the general managers for Beaver Creek Mountain Lodging.

The Clement Palo Alto named Rod Bastero director of banquets for two of its associated hotels, the Westin Palo Alto and the Sheraton Palo Alto. Prior to joining The Clement, Bastero was director of banquets at the Westin Dallas Downtown since 2015.

Olshan Properties appointed Ernie Catanzaro head of hospitality. Catanzaro joins Olshan Properties from Great Neck, New York-based United Capital Corp, where he was regional director. 

San Diego-based Rancho Bernardo Inn has made a number of appointments: Christopher Carriker as chef de cuisine; Andrew Seagrave as general manager; Tammy Hoops as assistant general manager; and a promotion for Margaret Nolan Carvallo to executive pastry chef.

André D’Amour was named general manager for Stonewall Resort, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located in Roanoke, West Virginia. D’Amour previously served as director of operations for Cheyenne Mountain Resort, the Four Diamond, IACC-certified property located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 

Tilman Fertitta named Jean Luc Royere executive chef at The Post Oak, the luxury mixed-use high rise located in Houston’s Uptown district. He most recently served as executive chef of the Mandarin Oriental in Miami.

Nicholas Gold was named general manager of The Club at Kukui‘ula, a luxury resort and real estate community on the South Shore of Kauai. Gold previously worked with properties like Amangiri in Utah, Enchantment and Miraval Resorts in Arizona, and Condado Vanderbilt in Puerto Rico.

Chicago-based Kimpton Hotel Allegro named Fantasy Greene director of sales and marketing. Previously, Greene worked as regional director of sales for TMI Hospitality.

Hyatt Regency Austin named Reese Hay as executive chef. He joins the property from Hyatt Regency Columbus in Ohio.

Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort in Carlsbad, California, named Louise Lambert as weddings and event sales manager. Most recently, she held the position of Catering Service Manager at the esteemed Rancho Bernardo Inn.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago named Amy Leahy director of sales and marketing. Leahy Amy was formerly director of sales and marketing at The James Chicago, where she spent more than six years. 

Jenny Mazzurco was named director of sales at the 119-room Fairfield Inn & Suites in Boca Raton, Florida. Most recently, Mazzurco served as senior sales manager at the Hyatt House in White Plains, a 159-room property where she led the sales team and often assisted at other properties.

LIVunLtd, a global luxury management and consulting firm for concierge, fitness, spa and wellness, named Kate Mearns as director of spa and wellness. Mearns is the former chairman of the International Spa Association and currently a Board Member of the Washington Spa Alliance.

Christiana Menassa was named executive chef of The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village in Florida. Most recently, she was executive chef at the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa in Sanibel, Florida.

Casa de Campo Resort & Villas named Kirsis Méndez director of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. Méndez has more than 20 years experience in local and international groups, operations, and sales.

The Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek in Avon, Colorado promoted Ingrid Middaugh to director of spa Anjali & The Athletic Club at The Westin and Kristin Ligouri was promoted to spa director at Spa Anjali.

Davidson Hotels & Resorts named David Mullen as corporate executive chef. Mullen joined Davidson in August; prior to that, he was most recently in Utah with the Sundance Resort where he was the executive chef of nine culinary outlets and Zoom restaurant in Park City.

Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa promoted Markie Mullins to director of revenue management. Mullins first joined Omni Rancho Las Palmas in 2015 as an assistant director of revenue management.

The Porter, a luxury hotel in Portland, Oregon set to open in early 2018, added three core members to its management team: Andrea Murray as general manager; Laura van Daal as director of sales and marketing and Troy Dixon as director of food and beverage.

Bluegreen Vacations Corporation named David L. Pontius as chief operating officer. Pontius joined Bluegreen Corporation in 2007 as president of Bluegreen Resorts and was promoted to president of Bluegreen Services in 2009. Over his career he has served as chief strategy officer and executive vice president of operations at Wyndham Vacation Ownership, president of RCI North America, executive vice president operations at Hilton Grand Vacations, and chief operating officer of Vacation Internationale.

Bluegreen Vacations named Famous Rhodes chief marketing officer of Bluegreen Vacations Corporation. Previously Rhodes was responsible for the online and store experience for AutoNation.com and over 300 store sites.

Veteran Four Seasons hotel executive Tom Roelens was appointed general manager of the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, set to open in spring. Previously, he served at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai for the past ten years.  

Caribbean-based Four Seasons Resort Nevis named Gonzalo Güelman Ros as general manager. Prior to joining Four Seasons Resort Nevis, Güelman Ros served at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, where he held the position of resort manager for three-and-a-half years.

Waldorf Astoria Chicago named Lynda Simonetti private restaurant events manager for both MINA Group culinary concepts in the hotel, Margeaux Brasserie and Petit Margeaux. Most recently, Simonetti served as the director of public relations for the Waldorf Astoria Chicago and The Drake Hotel, where she was in charge of also handling restaurant marketing and special events.

The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester, Vermont appointed Parley Stock director of sales and marketing. Prior to rejoining the Kimpton team, Stock held management positions at hotels including The Ritz-Carlton Phoenix, The Roosevelt Hotel, and Kimpton Muse Hotel, among others.

Banyan Tree Phuket appointed Ian John Thomason as executive chef. He was previously executive chef at Luxury Collection, Naka Island, Phuket for over five years. 

The Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Arizona named Marti Trieschmann regional vice president of sales and marketing. Trieschmann was most recently area director of sales and marketing for Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa and Sunshine Suites Resort in the Cayman Islands. 

Art Ovation Hotel, an Autograph Collection Hotel set to open in Sarasota, Florida in December, named Dominic Vaccaro executive chef, overseeing the hotel’s food & beverage operations.

Kevin Watson was promoted to general manager of Stonebridge Companies’ Aloft Denver International Airport. Watson was most recently dual general manager for both the Best Western Plus Denver International Airport Inn & Suites and the Days Inn & Suites Denver International Airport.

Nashville-based Fairlane Hotel appointed Ben Webster general manager and Graham Harlin as director of sales. The property will open in downtown Nashville in early 2018.
