Briefs: Nobu sold | Fragrance in Devon (again)

JW in Tampa: Strategic Property Partners will build a 26-story JW Marriott in Tampa, Florida. The 519-room hotel is part of a US$3 billion project aimed to redevelop the city’s downtown; SPP is investing $40 million in renovations into the hotel and a nearby marina.

Chicago Nobu sold: The Nobu Hotel in Chicago has been sold for nearly US$20 million to RCD Resorts of Mexico. The hotel-restaurant, in an 11-story building with 119 rooms, is scheduled to open early next year.

Government takeover of hotel: The state government of Rajasthan took over the Hotel Jaipur Ashok from the India Tourism Development Corporation. The 97-room property has been renamed the Hotel Jaipur. The state paid 14 Crore rupees (US$32.5 million) for the property.

Bowling joins Waldorf Astoria: Peter Bowling has joined the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills as managing director. Prior to joining the hotel, which opened in June, Bowling was MD of the One&Only Palmilla resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, among other roles at hotels including the Lainston House and Eastwell Manor in England, the Royal Pavilion in Barbados, the Cotton House Hotel in Mustique and Jumby Bay in Antigua. 

 


Fragrance acquires Park: The Fragrance Group acquired the Park Hotel in Paignton, England. The seller was a private entity. The 46-room hotel is the third purchased by Fragrance in the area recently.

 


 

HVMG sells Embassy Suites: Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG) of Atlanta completed the sale of the 146-suite Embassy Suites in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It will retain management of the property.
