Briefs: Hilton hires Uber exec | Kimpton signs in Taipei

Hilton hires Uber exec: Hilton appointed former Uber exec Kellyn Smith Kenny senior vice president and chief marketing officer. As vice president, marketing at Uber, she led interdisciplinary marketing for the company’s most significant markets in the U.S. and Canada. As senior vice president, marketing at Capital One, Kenny led marketing and brand strategy for the consumer banking division. While at Microsoft, she oversaw consumer-facing and retail marketing efforts in various store, consumer, and B2B roles.

 


Kimpton signs in Taipei: Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants have signed the Kimpton Taipei, which will be the luxury boutique brand’s first hotel in Taiwan. The signing comes on the heels of IHG and Kimpton’s announcement to open three new properties in Southeast Asia and Greater China, further expanding Kimpton’s international footprint. Scheduled to open next year in central Taipei, the 14-story property features 129 guest rooms and suites, and a 12th floor rooftop deck.

 


Wardman acquires in Maine: Washington, D.C. based real estate investment firm The Wardman Group has acquired Ocean Gate Resort, a 65-room waterfront resort near Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Scout Hotel & Resort Management will operate. The property had been owned and operated by GEM Hospitality Group since 2006.

 


GHM in Dubai: GHM has signed Al Bait Sharjah to their collection for 2018. Located just 20 miles from Dubai along the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, the property will have 53 luxury guestrooms and suites.

YHS will explore topics ranging from new branding ideas and marketing schemes to the trends for the internet of things in hospitality and the changing landscape of hotel ownership.
