Briefs: Hilton Rotterdam sells | A go ahead for Dallas Cowboys owner

Hilton Rotterdam sells: The 254-room Hilton Rotterdam sold to a group of investors that includes First Sponsor Group Limited, a Singapore-based property developer, for approximately US$62 million, equating to US$245,000 per key. RevPAR for the Hotel represents a discount of nearly 30% to Park’s pro forma RevPAR on a trailing 12-month basis.

 


Dallas Cowboys owner gets the go ahead: Irving’s city council has given Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ real estate company the go ahead to build a high-profile mixed-use development in Las Colinas. The almost 28-acre project could be worth as much as US$100 million with the addition of adjoining development sites owned by Blue Star Land.

Arbor acquires:  Chicago-based management company Arbor Lodging Partners acquired its first property in the Chicagoland market, Chicago Marriott Schaumburg. The 398-room hotel marks Arbor Lodging’s fifth Marriott International-branded hotel and was acquired through a joint-venture with Middleton Partners.

 


Eden Rock renovating: Oetker Collection’s Caribbean property Eden Rock – St Barths will reopen December 2018 with renovations including new design from architecture and interior design studio Martin Brudnizki.

 


LE data: By the end of 2018, the census of open and operating hotels in the U.S. is expected to grow by 2.5% with 1,145 projects/130,209 rooms opening up, according to reports from Lodging Econometrics. Of those expected to open, 514 projects/50,165 rooms will be upper midscale, the highest count of any chain scale and 45% of all new openings. 556 projects/59,309 rooms, almost 50% of new openings, will be suburban locations although the U.S. market with the most anticipated openings is New York with 57 projects/9,534 rooms.

Another 1,370 projects/143,344 rooms in the U.S. construction pipeline are extended-stay projects. Of these, 424 projects/46,551 rooms are under construction, accounting for 27% of all projects under construction in the total pipeline. Additionally, 605 projects/64,121 rooms are scheduled to start construction in the next 12 months while an additional 341 projects/32,672 rooms are in early planning.
