Sage Hospitality named a new CIO. A luxury Rosewood property opening early 2019 in Southern California now has its managing director. W Hotels Worldwide will open a new property in Costa Rica and now has its new GM. Read on for other people making big moves.

The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills named Stephanie Ahoni director of catering of the Los Angeles hotel in West Hollywood. Ahoni has held previous director of catering positions with Beverly Hills’ SLS Hotel, Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter and W Atlanta Downtown. 

Hospitality investment and management company Sage Hospitality named Jason Altberger as chief investment officer. Altberger joins Sage after 18 years at real estate private equity firm DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners where he spent the final eight years of his tenure as managing director. 

Brad Busby was named general manager of Hotel Emblem San Francisco. Prior to joining Viceroy, Busby held key roles at companies including Hyatt Hotels, Baha Mar Hotels, and Las Vegas Sands Corporation. 

Seán Carney was appointed managing director of Rosewood Miramar Beach, a luxury resort opening early 2019 in the Montecito community of Southern California. Most recently, Carney served as managing director of Lough Eske Castle, A Solis Hotel in Donegal, Ireland. 

Mexican Chef Margarita Carrillo is joining The Reef 28 to completely revamp the adults-only, all-inclusive hotel’s restaurant, Cachito. Recently recognized by the Government of Mexico, Carrillo was named Culinary Ambassador of Mexico, having served as executive chef of various international forums. 

As Louis T Collection continues to oversee the multi-million-dollar redevelopment and repositioning of Perth’s now-shuttered New Esplanade Hotel, the hotel management company has announced it will reopen in Q1 2019 as Quay Perth, a new four-star boutique hotel, with seasoned hospitality executive Lovelynn Clark as general manager. Most recently, she was part of the pre-opening leadership team at the five-star, 468-room Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, where she served as executive housekeeper. 

Park City, Utah-based Washington School House Hotel named Ryan Frye executive chef. With over six years of versatile industry experience, Frye has helmed the kitchens of Salt Lake City’s Avenues Proper Restaurant, Proper Burger Co. and Proper Emporium/Brewery holding roles as lead line chef and head pastry chef. 

Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius named Alexandre Giraud executive chef. Giraud joins Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius after his recent position as executive chef at the five-star LUX Le Morne in Mauritius, where he was responsible in overseeing 67 chefs. 

Orlando-based Orange Lake Resorts named Denise Godreau to the newly created position of chief brand and innovation officer. Previously, Godreau was chief marketing officer for SeaWorld Entertainment.

Orange County, California-based Montage International named Mandy Holloway as senior vice president, human resources. Prior to Montage International, Holloway served as vice president of human resources & employee engagement at Universal Studios Hollywood, NBCUniversal in Universal City, California, where she managed operational staffing, employer branding, employee engagement, communications and team member programs.

Lotte New York Palace named Brent Howard director of the Towers accommodations occupying the hotel’s top 14 floors. Howard’s career at Lotte New York Palace began in 2015 as assistant front office manager. He was then promoted to meetings and events manager in 2016, where he was responsible for organizing and managing the logistical details of small and large-scale events on property. 

Georgia-based Barnsley Resort has announced the appointment of Andy Ippensen as director of sales, and Gary Schneeberg as regional sales manager. Most recently Ippensen served as the director of sales and marketing for Cabin Bluff in Woodbine, Georgia and Schneeberg most recently was the business development sales manager for Dalton Convention Center & Visitors Bureau. 

Several Embassy Suites properties have made new hires. They include: Embassy Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Downtown named Michael Kauffeld general manager; Embassy Suites by Hilton Parsippany appointed Christopher Akoury general manager; and Embassy Suites by Hilton Secaucus Meadowlands appointed Rebecca Kirisits general manager.

New York-based Hotel Indigo Lower East Side named Jeremy Keller director of sales and marketing. Most recently he was director of sales at Hotel on Rivington.

W Hotels Worldwide will open a new property in Costa Rica and has appointed a new GM, Hector Rodriguez Ladeveze. Since 2010, Ladeveze has lead the teams at Westin, Le Meridien and Sheraton through full refurbishments and repositioning until his recent move to the W Brand. Prior to moving to Costa Rica Hector held the role of hotel manager at Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers. 

Singapore-based GHM appointed Tommy Lai CEO. Lai comes to GHM after six years with the Thailand-based Onyx Hospitality Group, where he helmed their North Asia operation from Hong Kong.

Thompson Chicago has appointed Kyle Martin director of sales and marketing. In 2015, he joined the Wit Hotel Chicago as director of business and leisure travel sales and later as managing director of sales where he led the business travel and group sales efforts of the hotel. 

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts named Iain McCormack general manager of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi, the luxury hotel group’s first property in the island nation. Prior to his recent appointment, McCormack was global group director of the Karma Group, an international travel and lifestyle hospitality brand. 

Meliá Hotels International has appointed Mauricio Patino general manager of its Innside by Meliá New York hotel. Patino most recently served as the complex general manager of Highgate Hotels, where he oversaw two properties in the Boston area.

Atlanta-based Hotel Equities promoted Joe Reardon to chief development officer. In his previous role, Reardon served as SVP of business development and marketing. 

Newly renovated The Equinox, a Luxury Collection Golf Resort and Spa based in Manchester, Vermont appointed Martin Rosenthal general manager of the 147-room luxury resort. Previously, Rosenthal was the GM at luxury properties around the U.S., including HEI Hotels & Resorts such as Hilton St. Charles & Santa Cruz, Astor Crowne Plaza and Costa Mesa Marriot. 

The Kimpton Schofield Hotel in Cleveland named Cathy Ruhling director of sales and marketing. Ruhling joins the Schofield from the Doubletree Cleveland South as its former director of sales and marketing and she has 20 years of hospitality experience. 

Montage Beverly Hills named Aleksandr Sigalus director of sales, international. Sigalus joined Montage Beverly Hills with over 14 years of experience, and most recently from The Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, where he oversaw the diplomatic and Middle East markets as sales director. 

K11 Artus, a luxury residence concept to open in summer 2019 at Victoria Dockside in Hong Kong, has appointed Christopher Sommers general manager. Prior to joining the property, Somers was appointed GM at The Ritz-Carlton Haikou. 

Markus Wölflik has taken over as general manager of the Steigenberger Hotel Zingst in Frankfurt. His most recent role was as director of the 5-star Grand Hotel Binz, which is located on the island of Rügen and owned by the Private Palace Hotels & Resorts Group.
