Briefs: Dutch Deutsche | Tokyo’s tourist crunch

How Toyko is dealing with hotel shortfall. To mitigate the shortage of hotel rooms expected for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Japanese authorities announced plans to employ cruise ships that will dock in Tokyo Bay. About 10 million people are expected to visit during the games.

Deutsche in Amsterdam: Germany’s Deutsche Hospitality plans to open the IntercityHotel Amsterdam Airport in 2021. It will be the second IntercityHotel in the country and is part of company plans to expand further in the Netherlands with its Steigenberger Hotels, Jaz in the City and the MAXX by Steigenberger and Zleep brands. 

Two new Cambrias: Choice Hotels International signed an agreement with Michigan-based Koucar Management to develop new Cambria hotels – a 154-room property in Detroit and a 102-room hotel in Portland, Maine, slated to open in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
