Edge of this infinity pool? The rest of the world

Clear for takeoff: Reportedly surprisingly quiet and clean, Gerber Group will be operating The Pool Bar and Observation Deck at the highly anticipated TWA Hotel opening May 15 in New York. The space with views of JFK airport’s bustling Runway 4 Left/22 Right will be open year-round, and the water in the 63-by-20-foot infinity edge pool will be purified every 30 minutes (a standard pool recirculates every six hours). Come winter, it turns into a pool-cuzzi as the water can be heated up to 100 degrees. The space is reportedly inspired by the infinity edge pool at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France. Thirsty? How about a Mile High Spritz (vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice and prosecco)?—Jeff Weinstein

Ladies and gentlemen with a purpose: Horst Schulze’s WP Hospitality Group will manage the unique Purpose Hotel when it opens in 2022. The concept in Nashville created by photographer Jeremy Cowart is designed so that everything from blankets, soap and Internet access directly contributes to those in need through strategic sourcing and procurement. The tagline: “Change the world in your sleep.” For legendary Ritz-Carlton founder Schulze, management tactics have always centered around a staff driven toward a common purpose they believe in. “The Purpose Hotel is a literal interpretation of what I have been striving for in all of my hotels,” he said.—J.W.

Friday eye candy: Is this really the most Instagrammable hotel in the world? Art is subjective, but the desert mystique surrounding Qasr Al Arab Desert Resort by Anantara, outside Abu Dhabi, certainly gives other contenders a run for their money. The award was given by Luxury Travel Advisor to the resort over 63 other contenders, and the hotel’s 22,700 followers surely agree. Feast your eyes.—Barbara Bohn
