Google bundles tools; no transactions yet

Google’s has finally bundled its travel services in one place with Tuesday’s launch of Trips, which lets users plan travel by searching a destination to find hotels, flights, travel guides and vacation packages.

Not to be confused with Google Trips, the product combines the mobile Google Trips app, Google Flights and Google hotels search under one landing page simply called Trips. Once booked, users can among other things outline their itinerary, see confirmation codes, travel information and weather reports. What Trips does not do is transact and it remains mostly a metasearch tool referring to sites for bookings.

The new Trips landing page is live now on the web and will be accessible through Google Maps in the months ahead.

“Our goal is to simplify trip planning by helping you quickly find the most useful information and pick up where you left off on any device,” said Richard Holden, vice president, Product Management, Travel for Google. “We’ll continue to make planning and taking trips easier with Google Maps, Google Search and google.com/travel—so you can get out and enjoy the world.”
