Briefs: GIC tries to grow Indian position | Blu for Stuttgart

Radisson to Stuttgart: Radisson Hotel Group has signed with developer Bülow AG to develop a new, 168-room Radisson Blu hotel at the Porsche Design Tower Stuttgart, Germany. Bülow AG, Stuttgart, will also act as project developer through its own architecture offices. The design was created in close collaboration with Studio F. A. Porsche. The hotel facilities will occupy the upper stories of the tower, from the 9th to the 23rd floor.

GIC looks to grow in India: Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC is in preliminary talks with GVK Power and Infrastructure to acquire its stake in Taj GVK Hotels and Resorts to consolidate its position in the Indian real estate and hospitality spaces, sources told The Economic Times. Taj GVK has seven 5-star properties across the country and is trying to reduce its debt burden. Earlier this year, GIC set up an investment platform in India with Tata group hotel company Indian Hotels Company Ltd. to acquire hotels in India.

Omni coming to Minnesota: Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced the development of the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel, a 4-star property located in the Viking Lakes development in Eagan, Minnesota. Omni joins MV Eagan Ventures; Ecolab; the Davis Family of Cambria; and Viking Lakes Hotel Physician Partners as ownership partners of MVE Hotel, LLC. The 14-story hotel with 320 rooms is set to open in 2020.

A Yotel first: Yotel has announced its first hotel in Australia: Yotel Melbourne, slated to open in 2022. The hotel has been signed under a management agreement with Cornerstone Partners Group, an integrated hospitality asset owner and developer with offices in Malaysia, Taiwan and Australia. The 244-room property will be located on 63-69 City Road in Southbank – within walking distance of Melbourne’s CBD, the Arts Precinct, Federation Square and the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

AMResorts out in Montego Bay: SB Resort Management Ltd. is ending, effective August 30, its hotel management agreement with AMResorts for its two Montego Bay, Jamaica, resorts, currently named Sunscape Splash and Sunscape Cove. The Sunset Beach Resort companies previously operated and managed both properties until July 2015, before turning over management to AMResorts. Renovations and rebranding programs are being planned for both properties.
