Marriott Del Mar, San Diego, adds some excitement to the pool scene with the introduction of a new outdoor lounge. The lounge is an extension of the hotel’s Arterra Restaurant and Bar and offers guests a new option for al fresco dining.
“Our goal was to add a new dynamic to the restaurant,” says General Manager Tom Mastricola. “It’s a place were guests can drop in for a small bite, enjoy a summer cocktail and socialize.”
The new lounge revamps the former pool deck and extends the ambience of Arterra Bar outdoors. Enhancements include a collection of private cabanas, each with plasma screen televisions, sound systems, WiFi and ceiling fans; three fire pits; state-of-the-art windscreen; and advanced LED lighting. New furnishings blend social spaces with private nooks to accommodate myriad guest needs.
The menu for the lounge focuses on “California small bites,” prepared by Executive Chef Brian Pekarcik. The menu emphasizes seasonality and will change regularly to offer the freshest fare possible. Such upscale offerings available currently include trio of Kobe beef sliders; mango and raisin couscous with cilantro-marinated prawns; and curry chicken samosas with fresh cucumber salad.
