CityFlats Hotel, Michigan, Is First LEED Gold In Midwest

CityFlats Hotel has achieved LEED Gold Certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System. The first hotel in the Midwest to achieve the prestigious certification, CityFlats carefully selects its partners, including P&G Professional, to uphold its commitment to sustainability. 
“We’re excited to be on the forefront of fostering sustainable hotels,” says David Wilsey, CityFlats General Manger. “Our focus is to provide unique, one-of-a-kind experiences for our guests, while keeping our environmental impact to a minimum.”
LEED is a nationally-recognized benchmark providing independent, third-party verification that a building is an environmentally-responsible, profitable and healthy place to live and work. Located in downtown Holland, CityFlats excels in water and energy efficiency initiatives, using 30 percent less water than baseline standards. In addition, the hotel’s seating and décor was designed locally and manufactured using rapidly-renewable materials.

That's an accomplishment - LEED Gold is great! More and more properties are seeing the value of eco-consciousness, and fortunately, they're becoming easier to locate.
The dedicated "Green" web site, istaygreen.org, is helping to make environmentally friendly lodging
easy to find and book. iStayGreen.org is currently the most frequented online booking site for "Green" lodging. Over 3,500 of the properties listed are environmentally friendly and have been awarded the Green Eco-Leaf Rating.
The eco initiatives of the property are clearly listed. Users are encouraged to contribute "Green"
Reviews and environmentally rate the hotels they visit.
It's like Tripadvisor - Facebook - Travelocity all together in one site for the environmentally conscious
traveler.
