Capella Ixtapa, the 59-room North American debut of the Capella Hotels and Resorts brand, opened late last year in Mexico’s Sierra Madre mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The property showcases contemporary spins on traditional local Mexican fare each night in its fine dining room, A Mares, and also offers a variety of small plates and ceviches for lunch and dinner at its casual Terrace Bar (tiered in three levels to showcase the ocean views and shoreline). Longtime Ritz-Carlton veteran Juan Licerio is executive chef.
Guests also may opt to dine in the privacy of their own guestrooms or on their personal terraces through the resort’s 24-hour roomservice offering, or to arrange for a private dinner to be held at another location on resort grounds.
