Six Senses To Develop Resorts In Brazil

-- Hotels, 5/20/2008 7:20:00 AM

Six Senses’ Hub, Bangkok, May 20, 2008: Six Senses Resorts & Spas will develop two resorts in the Brazilian state of Alagoas. The properties are to be branded as Six Senses Hideaway and Six Senses Latitude. Located approximately 62 kilometres, or 33 nautical miles, north east of the state capital of Maceio, and 143 kilometres, or 77 nautical miles, north of Recife, the site covers an area of approximately 200 hectares, or 495 acres. It is a one-hour drive from Maceio or a thirty-minute flight in the resorts’ own Cessna Grand Caravans from Recife to the private airport. There will also be marina facilities.

Offering a pristine 3,000 metre white sand beach on one side and 3,500 metres of river front with sandy ground and mangroves on the other, the tropical site will feature a Six Senses Latitude comprising contemporary-styled villas with personal pools, plus a more intimate Six Senses Hideaway with private pool villas. In addition, a number of private residences will be offered for sale at both the Latitude and Hideaway. These villas will enable personal investment into the Six Senses lifestyle whilst embracing the Six Senses eco-commitment and core purpose of creating innovative and enriching experiences in a sustainable environment.

As with the like-branded properties in Spain and the Maldives, Six Senses Latitude will emphasize a sense of community, with a variety of dining alternatives and interaction with service personnel from front-line butlers to heart-of-house hosts. Alternatively, at Six Senses Hideaway, emphasis will be placed on privacy, with the rustic-chic pool villas harmoniously blended into the natural forested landscape. Although a relatively new brand, the Hideaway philosophy has proven overwhelmingly successful with six properties already operating in Thailand, Vietnam and Oman. Guests at both resorts will be provided with personal bicycles during their stay, while residences will have their own electric vehicles.

Much of the produce used at the Latitude and Hideaway will be sourced from growers and suppliers in the surrounding region. A cooperative will be established to provide organic vegetables and fruit, and free-range poultry for the resorts. This innovative approach endorses Six Senses’ commitment to decrease the environmental impact of transporting produce where possible, whilst increasing socio-economic value to local communities.

A Six Senses Spa strategically located to conveniently serve both resorts is a key element of the development. Skilled international therapists create personal sensory journeys with a core menu of signature treatments that are offered at more than thirty award-winning Six Senses Spas around the world, and augmented with Brazilian specialties.

Scheduled for completion in 2010, Six Senses Latitude and Hideaway will create over 600 new host roles, primarily drawing from the local community. Comprehensive training programmes will ensure that the highest level of Six Senses’ personalized guest service is delivered, while providing skill enhancements for each host’s career path.

Project conception is under the direction of the Six Senses design team. Owner and developer is Investtur Brasil – Desenvolvimento Imobiliário Turístico S.A. , a startup company established to operate in the tourism-orientated real estate development sector, with a focus on leisure and business tourism, including ‘second home’ projects and related activities.
