  • BANDUNG, INDONESIA: Sahid Group of Hotels is adding 100 guestrooms to its 52-room Hotel Sahid Bandung. Completion: early 2003.

  • BALI, INDONESIA: Sahid Group of Hotels is renovating 222 guestrooms at its 427-room Hotel Sahid Raya Bali. Completion: 2002.

  • BANGKOK, THAILAND: Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, entrance and spa at its 850-room Bangkok Shangri-La. Est. Cost: US$17 million. Completion: mid-2002. Interior designer: Leese Robertson Freeman Designers Ltd., Hong Kong. Accor S.A. is adding a Sofitel Club Lounge; converting several floors to executive floors, which include 250 rooms; is renovating its restaurants and lobby; is adding conference and meeting facilities; and is redesigning the pool, fitness center, pool bar and drug store at its 454-room Sofitel Silom Bangkok (formlery Monarch Lee Gardens Hotel).   • BEIJING, CHINA: Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is renovating two hotels here, including guestrooms, lobby and restaurant at its 738-room China World Hotel. Est. Cost: US$13 million.   • DHAKA, BANGLADESH: Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts is adding a 14-story tower with 150 guestrooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, a convention center for 2,000 and basement parking for 600 at its 304-room Pan Pacific Sonargaon. Completion: 2003.

  • HOKKAIDDO, JAPAN: Windsor Hotels International is renovating its 398-room Windsor Hotel Toya. Completion: mid-2002.

  • ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN: Six Continents Hotels is renovating guestrooms, restaurant and health club at its 131-room Holiday Inn. Est. Cost: US$2.7 million. Completion: late 2002.

  • JAKARTA, INDONESIA: Sahid Group of Hotels is renovating 200 guestrooms at its 750-room Hotel Sahid Jaya. Completion: 2002.

  • KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA: Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms and spa at its 500-room Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort. Completion: mid-2002. Interior Designer: Nikken Sekki.

  • LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA: Berjaya Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms at its 400-room Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa Resort. Est. Cost: US$750,000. Completion: early 2002. Architect is Akitek Daya Reka, Kuala Lumpur, and the interior designer is Wilayah Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Kuala Lumpur.

  • MANILA, PHILIPPINES: Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is renovating its 703-room Makati Shangri-La. Est. Cost: US$28 million. Completion: mid-2002. Architect: Bilkey-Linas and Leese Robertson Freeman Designers Ltd.

  • NANJING, CHINA: Six Continents Hotels is renovating its 290-room Crowne Plaza Nanjing. Completion: 2002.

  • PAHANG (TIOMAN ISLAND), MALAYSIA: Berjaya Hotels & Resorts is renovating its 380-room Berjaya Tioman Beach Resort. Est. Cost: US$800,000. Completion: mid-2002.

  • PHUKET, THAILAND: Accor SA is adding 70 guestrooms, expanding banquet facilities, meeting rooms and restaurant at its 150-room Mercure (formlery Panwa Beach Resort). Completion: early-mid 2002.

  • SOLO (CENTRAL JAVA), INDONESIA: Sahid Group of Hotels is renovating 100 guest-rooms at its 140-room Hotel Sahid Raya Solo. Completion: 2003.

  • SEOUL, KOREA: Accor SA is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurants and meeting rooms at its 330-room Novotel Ambassador. Est. Cost: US$8 million. Completion: 2003.

  • SHANGHAI, CHINA: Shanghai Jin Jiang Group is renovating two hotels here, including guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and entrance at its 632-room Jin Jiang Tower Hotel. Est. Cost: US$12 million.   • TOWNSVILLE, AUSTRALIA: Six Continents Hotels is renovating guestrooms at its 197-room Holiday Inn Townsville. Completion: 2002-2003.

  • AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: Great Eagle Hotels International is renovating guest-rooms, kitchen and public areas at its 410-room Sheraton Auckland. Est. Cost: US$1 million. Completion: 2002-2003.

  • WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND: Six Continents Hotels is renovating standard guest-rooms, Club floor, and public areas at its 233-room Hotel Inter-Continental. Completion: 2002.

  • HAMILTON, BERMUDA: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is renovating 130 rooms in the Gazebo wing, lobby level, port cochere and retail space at its 410-room Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Completion: early 2002 through late 2003.

  • HAVANA, CUBA: Gran Caribe S.A. Hotel Group is renovating meeting rooms and swimming pool at its 352-room Habana Riviera. Completion: late 2002.

  • ISLA DE LA JUVENTUD, CUBA: Gran Caribe S.A. Hotel Group is renovating guestrooms, restaurant and lobby and is adding babysitting facilities at its 60-room Villa Coral. Completion: late 2002.

  • LAS CROABAS, PUERTO RICO: Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is planning a five-year renovation at its 918-room Wyndham El Conquistador Resort & Country Club. Renovation plans include additional casitas, new infinity pool, enhanced spa facility and increased golf amenities. Est. Cost: US$20 million. Completion: 2002-2007.

  • ORANJESTAD, ARUBA: La Cabana Beach Resort is renovating guestrooms and installing the remainder of a new alarm system on the third and fourth floors at its 441-room La Cabana Beach Resort. Completion: 2002-2004.

  • PLAYA, CUBA: Gran Caribe S.A. Hotel Group is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and kitchen at its 266-room Hotel Neptune. Completion: late 2003.

  • RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO: Sol Meliá is adding 491 rooms at its 982-room Paradisus Coco Beach All-Inclusive Beach Resort. Completion: 2003.

  • SOUTHAMPTON, BERMUDA: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is renovating the lobby, two floors of guestrooms (200 rooms), landscaping, 28,000 sq.-ft.(2,601 sq.-m) spa, Kids Club, new retail space and entrance at its 600-room Fairmont Southampton Princess. Completion: 2002-2003.

  • ST. MARTIN, FRENCH WEST INDIES: Orient Express Hotels is in its final phase of renovations and is adding several new four-bedroom villas at its 81-room La Samanna property. Completion: late 2002.

  • ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS: Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC is renovating guestrooms and adding a new spa, fitness center, hair salon and retail center at its 152-room The Ritz-Carlton. Est. Cost: US$75 million. Completion: early 2002. Interior designer: Nichols, Brush & Sandoval; Coral Gables, Florida.

  • TRINIDAD, CUBA: Gran Caribe S.A. Hotel Group is renovating guestrooms, restaurant, kitchen, entrance, lobby and massage room at its 279-room Hotel Ancon. Completion: late 2002.

  • VEDADO, CUBA: Gran Caribe S.A. Hotel Group is renovating two hotels here. It is renovating guestrooms and restaurant at its 250-room Hotel Nacional de Cuba. Completion: late 2002. At its 31-room Hotel Victoria, it is renovating guestrooms, restaurant, kitchen and meeting rooms. Completion: early 2003.

  • WILLEMSTAD, CURAÇAO, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES: SuperClubs is renovating (closed during renovation) its 341-room Breezes Curaçao (formerly Princess Beach Resort & Casino). Est. Cost: US$6 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • AARHUS, DENMARK: Helnan International Hotels A/S is renovating its 101-room Helnan Marselis Hotel. Est. Cost: US$3.5 million. Completion: mid-2002.

  • ALMANCIL, PORTUGAL: Orient Express Hotels is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, entrance and health club at its 141-room Hotel Quinta do Lago. Architect is Ridler Shapard Low International and interior designer is Christopher Hobson. Est. Cost: US$2.5 million. Completion: 2002 (portion of renovation completed in 2001).

  • AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS: Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is renovating guest-rooms at its 109-room Swissôtel Amsterdam. Completion: late 2002. Architect is Aivireal, Zurich, and the interior designer is Joe Brinkman, Zurich.

  • BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND: Hyatt International Hotels is renovating guestrooms at its 319-room Hyatt Regency Birmingham. Completion: 2002.

  • BODRUM, TURKEY: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is renovating its 245-room Samara Hotel. Completion: 2002.

  • MARSEILLE (NEAR MARIGNANE-PROVENCE AIRPORT), FRANCE: Accor is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, meeting rooms and entrance at its 179-room Sofitel Marseille Aéroport. Est. Cost: US$3.5 million. Completion: 2003-2004.

  • MILAN, ITALY: Starhotels SpA is renovating two hotels here, including lobby, restaurant, kitchen, meeting room and entrance at its 108-room Starhotel Anderson. Est. Cost: US$3 million. Completion: 2002. It is adding 85 guestrooms and renovating 77 guest-rooms at its 185-room Starhotel Rosa. Est. Cost: US$6.8 million. Completion: 2002.

  • MONTREUX, SWITZERLAND: Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms, fitness club at its 235-room Le Montreux Palace. Completion: early 2002. Architect is Avireal, Zurich, and interior designer is Stepart, Lucerne, Switzerland.

  • PLATJA DE MURO (BALEARES), SPAIN: Iberostar Hotels is renovating guestrooms, lobby and restaurant at its 366-room Alcudia Park Hotel. Completion: early 2002.

  • WROCLAW, POLAND: Marriott International is converting two hotels here: the Hotel Polonia into the 144-room Ramada Hotel, and the Hotel Europejski into the Ramada Encore Hotel. Completion for both hotels: mid-2002.

  • ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is renovating lobby and meeting rooms at its 347-room Swissôtel Zurich. Completion: early 2002. Interior Designer: Joe Brinkman, Zurich.

  • CAIRO, EGYPT: Helnan International Hotels A/S is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, kitchen, meeting rooms and entrance at its 300-room Helnan Shepheard Hotel. Est. Cost: US$1 million. Completion: 2002.

  • ACAPULCO, MEXICO: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is redesigning the golf course and installing new landscaping at its 343-room Fairmont Pierre Marques. Est. Cost: US$7 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • ADDISON, TEXAS: Six Continent Hotels is doing an extensive three-phase renovation at its 498-room Hotel Inter-Continental Dallas. Est. Cost: US$30 million. Completion: 2002-2003.

  • ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA: Hospitality Partners is renovating guestrooms and meeting rooms at its 221-room Holiday Inn Arlington At Ballston. Est. Cost: US$2.2 million. Completion: mid-2002.

  • ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is renovating the Days Inn Hotel and will reopen it as the 90-room The Carlton, which was its original name. Est. Cost: US$22 million. Completion: late 2002. Omni Hotels is adding a 24-story tower with 593 rooms at its Omni Hotel at CNN Center. Total rooms after the addition will be 1,063. Est. Cost: US$100 million.   • BANFF, CANADA: Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms and public areas at its 770-room Banff Springs. Est. Cost: US$55 million. Completion: 2003.

  • CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS: The 298-room Charles Hotel is undergoing renovations. Est. Cost: US$8-US$10 million. Completion: 2002. Interior designer: Chhada Siembieda Remedios Inc., California.

  • CHARLOTTETOWN, CANADA: Delta Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and meeting rooms at its 211-room Delta Prince Edward. Est. Cost: US$600,000. Completion: early 2002. Interior designer: Susan Troup Design, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

  • CHATHAM, MASSACHUSETTS: The 104-room Wequassett Inn Resort and Golf Club is renovating guestrooms and The Main Dining Room restaurant. Completion: 2002.

  • CHERRY HILL, NEW JERSEY: Growth Properties Investment Managers Inc. is renovating guestrooms, lobby, meeting rooms, public areas, pool and courtyard and is adding an executive boardroom, meeting rooms, business center and restaurant at its 209-room Clarion Hotels & Conference Center (formerly a Four Points Hotel by Sheraton). Completion: 2002.

  • CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Six Continent Hotels & Resorts is in the second phase of a two-phase renovation of its North and South Tower at its 844-room Hotel Inter-Contnental Chicago. Est. Cost: US$70 million. Completion: 2002. Interior designer is Intra-Spec, and architect is Gensler Architects. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is converting two hotels here. It is renovating its 390-room W Chicago City Center (formerly Midland Hotel). It is also converting the Days Inn into the 556-room W Chicago Lakeshore. Completion for both hotels: 2002.

  • COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO: The 700-room The Broadmoor is in the third phase of its renovation, which includes guestrooms, new elevators and redesign of the Garden Room at Tavern restaurant. Est. Cost: US$70 million. Completion: mid-2002.

  • DALLAS, TEXAS: Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is adding the Golden Door Spa at its 1,620-room Wyndham Anatole. Est. Cost: US$4 million. Completion: mid-2002. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is renovating guestrooms, ballroom and meeting rooms at its 301-room The Westin Stonebriar Resort. Est. Cost: US$28 million. Completion: late 2002. Marriott International is in the second phase of its renovation at its 589-room Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, which will include the addition of a 22,000 sq-.ft.(2,044 sq.-m) spa. Est. Cost: US$36 million. Completion: 2002.

  • HONOLULU, HAWAII: Marriott International is renovating its 1,308-room Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort. Est. Cost: US$60 million. Completion: mid-2002. Interior designer is Leo Daly, Washington, D.C., and the architect is Shimokawa Architects, Hawaii. Aston Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and entrance at its 714-room Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel (formerly Hawaiian Waikiki). Est. Cost: US$30 million. Completion: early 2002. Interior designer is Mary Phillpots & Associates, Hawaii, and the architect is Matt Gilbertson Architects, Hawaii.

  • HOUSTON, TEXAS: Six Continent Hotels & Resorts is doing a complete redesign and extensive renovation (hotel will close this winter to complete the most extensive phase of interior construction) at its 485-room the Inter-Continental Houston (formerly Crowne Plaza Hotel.) Completion: early 2002.

  • ITASCA, ILLINOIS: MeriStar Hotels & Resorts is renovating its 220-room Nordic Hills Resort & Conference Center. Completion: 2002.

  • LA JOLLA, CALIFORNIA: The 175-room Lodge at Torrey Pines is doing a renovation. Completion: early 2002. Developer is Evans Hotels, San Diego, California, and interior designers are Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo Architects, Newport Beach, California, and Kristine Smith Design Studio, San Diego. Hilton Hotels Corporation is adding a 13,370 sq.-ft.(963 sq.-m) ballroom at its 394-room Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. Est. Cost: US$5.3 million. Completion: early 2002. Interior designer is Barry Design, Los Angeles, and the architect is Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle, San Diego.

  • LOS CABOS, MEXICO: Pacific Monarch Resorts Inc. is renovating its 431-room The Cabo Azul Resort. Completion: mid-2002. Interior designer is T.S. Voelker Architecture, Rancho Santa Margarita, California, and the architect is Gomez Vazquez Aldana & Associates, Guadalajara.

  • LENOX, MASSACHUSETTS: The 107-room Cranwell Resort & Golf Club is adding a 35,000 sq-.ft. (3,252 sq.-m) spa. Est. Cost: US$8.2 million. Completion: early 2002. Interior designer is Deborah Homan, and the architect is David Smotrich & Partners.

  • LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Peabody Hotel Group is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, kitchen, meeting rooms, entrance and ballroom at its 417-room Arkansas Excelsior. Est. Cost: US$33.2 million. Completion: early 2002. Interior designer is Wilson & Associates, and architect is Wittenberg, Delony & Davidson.

  • LYNDHURST, NEW JERSEY: Concord Hospitality Enterprises and Boykin Lodging is renovating and adding eight rooms at its 219-room Novotel (renaming Courtyard by Marriott). Est. Cost: US$6 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • MANCHESTER, VERMONT: Olympus Hospitality Group is renovating guestrooms, meeting rooms and spa at its 134-room The Equinox Resort. Est. Cost: US$7 million. Completion: late 2002. Interior designer is Jinnie Kim Design and architect is Breadloaf Corp.

  • MARCO ISLAND, FLORIDA: Marriott International is adding a free-standing spa building at its 735-room Marco Island Marriott Resort & Golf Club. Completion: early 2002.

  • MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: Peabody Hotel Group is renovating its 468-room Peabody Hotel. Completion: 2002. Interior designer: Barry Design Associates, Los Angeles.

  • MIAMI, FLORIDA: Lionstone Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms, public areas, building exteriors and recreational facilities at its 142-room Residence Inn by Marriott ((formerly Dupont Plaza Apartments) Completion: early 2002.

  • MIAMI (SOUTH BEACH), FLORIDA: The 585-room Roney Palace Beach Resort is refurbishing its lobby, public spaces, most guestrooms, second pool deck, restaurant spa and retail space. Est. Cost: US$25 million. Completion: 2002. Starwood Hotels & Resorts is adding a new wing of guestrooms, spa, fitness center, restaurant and lounge at its 132-room W Miami (formerly Ritz Plaza Hotel).   • NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA: Snyder Langston is renovating guestrooms, adding new clubhouse with spa and fitness center, new ballroom, swimming pool, public and private restaurants and parking garage at its 159-room Balboa Bay Club.   • NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Hilton Hotels Corporation is renovating guestrooms and doing an HVAC upgrade at its 1,150-room Hilton New Orleans Riverside. Est. Cost: US$36.2 million. Completion: late 2002. Interior designer is James M. Isola Interiors, New Orleans, and architect is Frank Gerarve, Jr. Architect, River Ridge, Louisiana.

  • NEW YORK: Loews Hotels is renovating its 722-room Metropolitan Hotel (formerly Loews New York). Est. Cost: US$17 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • OAHU, HAWAII: Benchmark Hospitality is renovating guestrooms, public spaces, Fazio Golf Course, meeting rooms and restaurants at its 485-room Turtle Bay Resort. Est. Cost: US$35 million. Completion: late 2002. Interior designer is Michael Smith, Los Angeles, and architect is Architect Hawaii, Honolulu.

  • ORLANDO (LAKE BUENA VISTA), FLORIDA: The 2,267-room Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel is renovating its guest-rooms and restaurants, constructing a new 50,000 sq-.ft. (4,645 sq.-m) Pacific Hall, expanding its Atlantic Hall and adding a speciality seafood restaurant. Est. Cost: US$75 million. Completion: late 2002 (the new Osprey Ballroom opened recently).   • PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Destination Hotels & Resorts is renovating its 116-room Royal Palms Hotel. Est. Cost: US$1.9 million. Completion: late 2002.

  • PINEHURST, NORTH CAROLINA: Pinehurst Resort is adding a 31,000 sq-.ft. (2,880 sq.- m) spa at its 500-room Pinehurst Resort. Est. Cost: US$12 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • PLYMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS: Sheraton Plymouth is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant, meeting rooms and entrance at its 175-room Sheraton Plymouth. Est. Cost: US$5 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA: The 121-room Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is doing a three-phase renovation. Est. Cost: US$45 million. Completion: 2003.

  • PORTLAND, OREGON: Hilton Hotels is adding a 321-room executive tower at its 321-room Portland Hilton. Est. Cost: US$47 million. Completion: 2002. Interior designer: Barry Design Associates, Los Angeles.

  • RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA: MHI Hotels LLC is renovating guestrooms, lobby and meeting rooms at its 190-room The Brownstone, a Holiday Inn Hotel (formerlyThe Brownstone Hotel & Conference Center. Est. Cost: US$3 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • RICHARDSON, TEXAS: Omni Hotels is renovating guestrooms at its 342-room Omni Richardson Hotel. Completion: mid-2002. Interior designer: Vivian Nichols Associates, Dallas.

  • SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms and adding 20,000 sq. ft.(1,858 sq.m) of meeting space and catering space to its 805-room San Jose Fairmont Hotel. Est. Cost: US$67million. Completion: early 2002. Architect: Gensler & Associates and Moore Ruble Yudell.

  • SARASOTA, FLORIDA: Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC is adding tower residences at its 269-room Ritz-Carlton Sarasota. Completion: mid-2003.

  • SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA: Gemstone Resorts International is renovating guestrooms and lobby at its 119-room Forest Inn Suites. Completion: late 2002.

  • SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS: Destination Hotels & Resorts is renovating two hotels here, including guestrooms at its 288-room Crowne Plaza. Est. Cost: US$400,000. Completion: mid-2002. It is also renovating the guestrooms at its 138-room Holiday Inn Express. Est. Cost: US$200,000. Completion: late 2002.

  • STEVENSON, WASHINGTON: Dolce International is adding 59 guestrooms at its 195- room Dolce Skamania Lodge. Est. Cost: US$15 million. Completion: late 2002. Interior designer is The Gettys Group, Chicago, and the architect is Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects, Portland, Oregon.

  • TORONTO, CANADA: Great Eagle Hotels International is renovating guestrooms, lobby, meeting rooms, elevator and balcony at its 271-room Delta Chelsea Hotel. Est. Cost: US$6 million. Completion: early 2003.

  • VAIL, COLORADO: Destination Hotels & Resorts is renovating meeting rooms, function space and conference center at its 291-room Vail Cascade Resort. Est. Cost: US$2.2 million. Completion: mid-2001 and late 2002.

  • VANCOUVER, CANADA: Coast Hotels & Resorts is renovating 72 guestrooms, corridors, windows and sprinklers at its 267-room Coast Plaza Suite Hotel at Stanley Park. Est. Cost: US$4 million. Completion: early 2002.

  • WHISTLER, CANADA: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is renovating the restaurant and kitchen at its 238-room The Fairmont Chateau. Est. Cost: US$900,000. Completion: early 2002.

  • WASHINGTON, D.C.: Destination Hotels & Resorts is renovating guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and meeting rooms at its 415-room Washington Monarch. Est. Cost: US$4 million. Completion: late 2002. LaSalle Hotel Properties is renovating four hotels here totalling 502 rooms. All four properties will be renamed after renovation.
