Andaz To Open On Wall Street

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts -- Hotels, 1/6/2009 1:56:00 PM

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts announced the mid-2009 opening of Andaz Wall Street, the third hotel in the Andaz collection and second property in North America.  Andaz Wall Street will incorporate indulgent touches, warm service and exceptional experiences in an intimate environment that reflects the unique qualities of the Wall Street community.  In a building soaring 42 stories above lower Manhattan, Andaz Wall Street will be a part of a mixed-use hotel/residence in New York’s famed financial district.  Anchoring the development, the 253-room hotel will be located in the lower portion of the building, and the the residences on the top 24 floors.

The award-winning architectural design firm, Rockwell Group, has been engaged to develop the interiors and public spaces for both the hotel and residences in a way that celebrates contemporary simplicity through the use of natural materials and textures.

The Andaz Lounge will serve as a communal living room - where lounge meets library meets light-fare bar. Large windows opening onto the landscaped park between Pearl and Water Streets will encase the lounge, which will offer a light menu that evolves throughout the day. Large communal tables will provide a comfortable spot for a quick read of the morning paper, or a glass of wine with friends before going out. A rich palette of natural materials, such as cerused oak, end grain bamboo and veined stone will create a luminous ambiance in the room.  A metal and glass staircase with a continuous ribbon of blackened steel and stone will float through the central space of the hotel connecting the lounge with the spa, bar, second floor restaurant and cellar banquet spaces.

One of the only free-standing buildings in the neighborhood with 360 degree views, Andaz Wall Street will be full of light with seven-foot windows, 10-foot ceilings, and impressive square footage.  The simple, yet comfortable guest rooms will feature dark stained oak floors, textured walls, and bleached wood accents.  Adjacent to windows, built-in soaking tubs will open into the bedroom in A2 King rooms. In addition, these rooms will highlight a customized personal “valet,” an innovation that incorporates elements of a mini-bar, closet, and full-height mirror into one rotating unit.

Andaz Wall Street will offer an array of amenities, including: a contemporary take on a traditional Wall Street bar; a 3,550 square foot restaurant, featuring an elegant, farm-fresh, simple cuisine; a spa and fitness facility; and the Andaz studios, 3,750 square feet of interactive, residential style meeting space.

Andaz Wall Street’s prime location at the corner of Wall and Water streets, places it at the epicenter of the Financial District, one of New York City’s fastest growing residential neighborhoods, and home to luxury retailers, parks and fine dining.  The property, which will be the only hotel to boast a Wall Street address, is being developed by The Hakimian Organization along with partners, Peykar Brothers Realty & Gorjian Properties.
