Pittsburgh, Arizona Renaissance Hotels Make 'Bet'

Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel -- Hotels, 1/30/2009 7:40:00 AM

It’s a good bet that the rivalry between the Super Bowl-bound Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals extends to the Renaissance hotels in their home cities.

Barbara McMahon and Lynnie Green-Scheibeler, General Managers of the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel and Renaissance Glendale Resort and Spa, respectively, have put their pride on the line with a wager that hotel guests will find both fun and tasty.

“We want to show our team spirit, and we’re confident that Pittsburgh fans in Arizona will soon reap the rewards of a championship,” McMahon says.

The Steel Curtain will fall from our future Hall of Famer,” Green-Scheibeler says. “The Cards will stun the world!”

The day after the Big Game, which is Feb. 1, the General Manager in the losing city will welcome guests in the lobby wearing the winning team’s jersey. From Feb. 2 to 8, 2009, the hotel lounge in the losing city will feature a food special named for the champion team, and will offer it free to guests who show a driver’s license listing the winning city’s address (Pittsburgh, Pa. or Glendale, Ariz.).

If the Pittsburgh Steelers win, the Renaissance Glendale Resort and Spa will offer The Roethlisburger #7, a 7-ounce ground Angus beef burger with fried eggs, American cheese, mayonnaise, shredded lettuce and green chili sport relish on a hoagie roll. The Roethlisburger is free with the purchase of any full-priced food or beverage item when you show a Pittsburgh, Pa. license, through Feb. 8.

If the Arizona Cardinals win, The Bridge bar at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel will offer a free order of Arizona Cardinal Wings with the purchase of any full-priced food or beverage item when you show a Glendale, Ariz. license, through Feb. 8.

At the Renaissance Pittsburgh, the friendly wager is part of a larger celebration, with special menu items available Super Bowl weekend including Roethlisburgers, Arizona Cardinal Wings, The Terrible ’Tini, and Iron City and I.C. Light Beer specials. Show your terrible towel and register to win a complimentary one-night stay and breakfast for two.

The Bridge bar serves fun food and a thriving cocktail culture in the heart of The Cultural District, making it an ideal stop for business breakfasts, light lunches, casual dinners and late-night bites. Located in the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel in the restored 1906 Fulton Building at 107 Sixth St., it’s open until midnight Monday through Thursday and 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
