OpenWays Mobile Phone Locking System Integrates With Micros Opera

-- Hotels, 11/9/2009 10:08:00 AM

PRESS RELEASE
OpenWays, a global developer of mobile-based access-management and guest-service solutions for the hospitality industry, has joined forces with MICROS Systems, Inc, to better respond to the exploding demand by hoteliers for leveraging cell phone technology and its related infrastructure to offer better service to their guests. This alliance allows hotels to offer a continuum of mobile services before, during, and after the stay of a guest.

An important aspect of the offering, which will be incorporated into MICROS OPERA’s MyStayManager, OPERA PMS and OPERA CRS v5.0.2+, is the ability for guests to check in and out without having to stop at the front desk or at a kiosk upon arrival. Using the principle of Crypto Acoustic Credential™ (CAC™), a guest can securely receive his or her room key via cell phone (any type or brand and using any carrier network worldwide) prior to arriving at the hotel and proceed directly to the room upon arrival and open/unlock the door.

The OpenWays integration to MICROS OPERA fills a major gap between global communications and guest services. Delivering the key to the phone was the missing link to all mobile-based check-in/-out solutions until today. Because the OpenWays application is global, extremely simple, user friendly and works with every cell phone in the world today, it is the ideal mobile room key delivery integration partner for MICROS.

Delivering Keys, Data and More
The MICROS OPERA Enterprise Solution (OES) provides technical and operational enterprise software solutions for independent hotels and hotel chains. OES can be deployed in a seamless local, regional, or global environment, thus providing an unparalleled free flow of information. Powered by Oracle™, the world’s most scalable and robust database engine, this highly effective software for property management and core central systems introduces new concepts of guest service and service delivery, providing accurate, timely information to empower management and staff.

Through this integration partnership, MICROS OPERA supports OpenWays’ credential dematerialization solution and will be offering it as part of its OPERA offering.

“We are delighted with this strategic partnership with MICROS,” said Pascal Metivier, OpenWays Founder and CEO. “Integrating OpenWays within the MICROS OPERA offering will truly enhance guest service by streamlining the check-in/-out process, provide a new way for MICROS customer hotels to market to their guests, and add a unique key element to the company’s mobile technology initiative.”
