Lanesborough's Apsleys Restaurant Wins Michelin Star

LONDON — The Lanesborough, a London luxury hotel offering residential-style service in elegantly historic surroundings, has been bestowed a prestigious Michelin star for ‘Apsleys - a Heniz Beck Restaurant.' Since beginning service in September, the restaurant has become the epicenter of the London dining scene under the supervision of Chef Heinz Beck and Executive Chef Massimiliano Blasone. The restaurant now holds the record for the fastest London restaurant to be awarded a star, less than 5 months after opening in September 2009. The 2010 Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland was be released on January 20, 2010.

Apsleys features traditional Italian fare with antipasti, soup, pasta, meat and fish main courses as well as desserts. Beck, who already holds three Michelin stars for his work at Rome's La Pergola, created the menu with the intention of keeping dishes healthy and approachable yet still exciting.
The menu features starter dishes such as ‘Seabass Cannolo with Celery and Melon' and inspiring pasta dishes including ‘Rabbit Ravioli and Pistachio' and ‘White Truffle Risotto with Salmon Carpaccio.' Main courses such as ‘Cod Nero Chickpeas and Red Pepper Jus' and ‘Slow Braised Veal Cheek on Apple Puree and Salsify' are also on the menu. Apsleys also highlights a ‘Menu del Giorno' available at lunch with three courses priced at £28. Finally, Beck created a seven course ‘Apsleys Tasting Menu' available at £85 per person.
The cuisine featured at Apsleys compliments the grandeur of The Lanesborough creating an experience that is ideal for both a formal business meal and relaxed social dining. The recently renovated dining room, which is located under The Lanesborough's famed conservatory, was designed by the world-renowned Tihany Design, founded by Adam Tihany. The firm has been responsible for some of the world's most noteworthy restaurants including Le Cirque, Jean-Georges and Per Se in New York and The French Laundry in California.
