Westin Plans US$124MM Hotel For Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND The new 600-room Westin Baltimore
has been designed to reinforce the waterfront district's
architectural scale. The hotel's guestrooms will
offer harbor and city views.
The hotel will offer a 200-seat restaurant, 30,000-sq.-ft.
(2,787-sq.-m.) ballroom and meeting spaces, landscaped roof-top
terrace with enclosed pool and fitness center, and all back-of-house
functions.
The design architects are Brennan Beer Gorman/Architects
and Brennan Beer Gorman Monk/Interiors, New York, and the
architect of record is RTKL, Baltimore. The hotel opens
in late 2000.
Marriott To Manage Serviced Apartments
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC Marriott International Inc., Washington,
D.C., will manage a new 53-unit service apartment
complex, which will be branded a Marriott Executive Residences.
The Longin Center Marriott Executive Residences is
scheduled to open in 2000.
Ed Fuller, president and managing
director of international lodging operations for Marriott
International Inc., says, "We
are very pleased to introduce another Marriott hotel
brand in Prague. Travelers who are visiting Prague for
an extended period of time will appreciate the residential
comfort and services that the Marriott Executive Residences
brand offers."
The Residences will be comprised of spacious studio and
one-bedroom residential apartments and include such features
as full kitchens, 24-hour security, and business and fitness
center.
Regent Builds In Mexico City
MEXICO CITY The 94-room Regent Mexico City will be located
in the heart of the central business district on Reforma,
opposite the Mexican Stock Exchange.
Guestrooms will be among the largest in
the city with a minimum of 500 sq. ft. (46 sq. m.) per
room. All rooms will be equipped with advanced telecommunications
system and PC connections. The hotel will offer a bar
and specialty restaurant serving Mexican cuisine. Other
hotel facilities include a fully equipped spa and pool area.
The hotel opens in early 2000.
Hyatt Plans Florida Resort
BONITA SPRINGS, FLORIDA The new 450-room Hyatt Regency
resort is the fifth new resort announced by Hyatt
Hotels Corp., Chicago, during the past year and is scheduled
to open in 2001. It will be owned by Hyatt Equities,
LLC and managed by Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Guests will enjoy a private beach
island, eco-tours on pristine Estero Bay, swimming pool,
outdoor whirlpool spas and a Regency Club VIP concierge
floor. It will also feature a 14,000-sq.-ft. (1,301-sq.-m.)
ballroom, a 7,000-sq.-ft. (651-sq.-m.) junior ballroom
and a full complement of meeting rooms and boardrooms.
Interior designer is Hill Glazier, Palo Alto, California,
and the production architect is Spillis Candella & Partners
Inc., Coral Gables, Florida.
