Mystic Marriott Opens in 2001

GROTON, CONNECTICUT Situated in the developing Mystic Executive Park

overlooking the scenic Poheganut Reservoir, the Mystic Marriott Hotel

is the first full-service hotel outside Native American reservations

to be built in Connecticut in more than a decade and the largest hotel

in the New London/Groton/Mystic area.

The six-story hotel will offer guests 18,000 sq.ft. (1,672 sq.m) of

meeting space, including two ballrooms, restaurant and bar, a large

lounge and lobby seating area and a 9,000 sq. ft. (836 sq.m) full-service

spa and fitness center. All public spaces will be located on the ground

floor, providing efficiency and easy access.

Built by Wolman Construction, Waterford, Connecticut, developed by

Mystic Hotel Investors, LLC and managed by Waterford Hotel Group, the

US$38 million hotel will have 285 rooms, including six luxurious suites.

Guestrooms are equipped with work desks, safes, cable TV, data ports

and voice mail, coffee makers, in-room movies and irons and ironing

boards. The hotel is scheduled to open in early 2001.

Hilton International's Manchester Hotel Is Part of Large Mixed-Use

Development

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND UK-based Hilton International

has joined the £100

million Great Northern retail and leisure development,

a mixed-use development, by signing an agreement to buy a key site

from the developers, Morrison Merlin Limited.

The site for the proposed 4-star Hilton will be

at the heart of the development area at the Southern end of Deansgate,

one of the main thoroughfares through the city center. “We have been looking for a location

for a city center hotel in Manchester for some time, not only to complete

our Manchester network with hotels at Manchester Airport and Higher

Disley, but also to act as a central hub for the whole of Northwest

of England, “ says Anthony Harris, managing director of Hilton

(UK & Ireland).

The 345-room hotel will feature a range of accommodations

for both business and leisure guests including Executive Rooms with

private access to a Clubroom and extensive meeting and conference

facilities. Full health and fitness facilities operated by Living

Well Health Clubs, a subsidiary of Hilton Group plc, will be available.

The anticipated cost of the hotel is around £45 million and

Hilton International plans to complete the hotel by 2002 when Manchester

hosts the Commonwealth Games in the city.

Radisson Announces Major

Expansion In Europe

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA Radisson Hotels Worldwide announced a major

expansion in Europe with its global partner Radisson SAS Hotels Worldwide.

Included in the expansion are three new first

class, full service hotels in Glasgow, Leeds and Nottingham. The Radisson

SAS Hotel Glasgow is due to open in late 2001. Ultra modern in design,

the hotel will have 250 rooms, conference and banqueting facilities,

health club and a restaurant and bar. The 147-room Radisson SAS Hotel

Leeds will be developed from an original 1930’s building located

in the city center. The hotel, which will open in late 2001, will

offer a lobby bar and restaurant on the ground floor. A large shopping

mall with several boutiques and restaurant concepts will be directly

connected to the hotel.

Radisson SAS is also developing a 220-room hotel

in the city center of Nottingham. The hotel will offer a restaurant,

bar, health and fitness club with pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. The hotel

will also have one complete floor for three dividable banquet rooms

and one floor for 20 meeting rooms. This hotel will be redeveloped

from a 1930’s building,

which was a former post office.

Worldwide says, “These

three new hotels are just the start of our development

in the UK as a new home market. We also aim to sign contracts for

properties in Liverpool, Cardiff and Edinburg as well as several in

Ireland.

Grand America To Open

In November 2000

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH The Grand America, a new ultra-luxurious 775-room

hotel and meeting center will open in November of 2000. Selected as

Olympics (2002 Winter Olympics) headquarters by major corporate sponsors

of the Olympics, including American Express Company and NBC, the hotel

is expected to be the showcase lodging and meeting facility of a city

destined to be the center of world attention.

The 24-story hotel has been designed and is being

built to combine the elegance of Europe’s grand hotels with the modern technology

and generous aesthetic proportions of America’s leading properties.

The Grand America is clad in Bethel White Granite quarried in Vermont

and fabricated in Spain. Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart & Associates

Inc., Atlanta, designed the hotel.

Guestrooms and public spaces will feature solid cherrywood furniture

from France, hand-cut crystal and bronze chandeliers from Austria and

Italy, and English wool carpeting and marble from France, Italy and

Portugal. Grand America will offer two fine dining restaurants, additional

cafes and lounges and bar service. Other amenities include two ballrooms

(totaling 37,768 sq.ft (3,973 sq m) plus 21 additional meeting rooms,

an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a modern fitness spa.
