Resort Planned For South Korea

KOHAN, KOREA The internationally renowned architecture,

planning and design firm of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WAT&G),

Honolulu, has been awarded the interior design contract for the Kangwon

Casino Resort in Kohan, South Korea. The development team of the project

includes the owner, Kangwon Land Inc.; the architect of record, Yarehim

Architects Planners and Consultants; and the Korean interior design

firm of Ridge Company Ltd. Kangwon Land Inc. will be the operator.

The hotel is scheduled to be open in December 2002.

The 475-room hotel (with two deluxe presidential suites)

includes six restaurants and bars, meeting and conference facilities,

a freestanding spa, and a 125,000-sq.ft. (11,613-sq.m) casino including

restaurants, entertainment venues and VIP areas. The overall project

includes a retail village, a lake and sites for future hotels and condominiums.

El Hierro Princess, Canary Islands, Spain; 750 rooms to open in late

2001 at a cost of US$48 million; interior designer is Miguel Gonzalez

and developer is J.C. Construcciones; management and contact: Princess

Hotels.

Columbia Beach Resort, Pissouri Cyprus; 120 suites to open in early

2002 at a cost of US$20 million; architect is Vakis Hadjikyriakos and

Associates; contact Columbia Resort.

Radisson SAS Hotel and Radisson SAS Residence, Warsaw, Poland; 330

hotel rooms and 300 serviced apartments to open in mid-2002; contact

Radisson SAS Hotels.

Meliá Formigal, Formigal (Huesca), Spain; 135

rooms to open in late 2002; owner is IZAS 2002; management and contact:

Sol Meliá.

MIDDLE EAST

Hilton Cairo, Egypt; 300 rooms and 10 villas to open in late 2002;

owner is Tiran Estate Investment Company; management and contact: Hilton

Hilton Marsa Alam Coral Beach Resort, Marsa Alam

(near Hurghada) Egypt; 280 rooms plus 14 villas to open in late 2001;

and the architect is J.B. Associates; developer: Heavenly Resort Properties

Vegas.

Delta Prince Edward, Charlottetown, Prince Edward

Island, Canada; 211 rooms; renovation of hotel at a cost of US$600,000

to be completed in early 2002; interior designer is Susan Troup Design,

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; contact Delta Hotels & Resorts.

The Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation,

Lake Oconee, Georgia; 250 room open late 2001; interior designer is

Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart & Stewart
