Rosen Develops Resort Hotel In Orlando
Orlando, Florida
Rosen Hotels & Resorts, Orlando, Florida, announces
plans to develop a 1,500-room convention hotel, the Rosen
Resort & Convention
Center at Shingle Creek. The project will be on a 230-acre
(93-ha) site located on the new Universal Boulevard just
east of the Orange County Convention Center Phase V. Architect of the
project is Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock Architects Inc., Maitland,
Florida.

According to Rosen Hotels & Resorts, Harris Rosen, president, has committed to a non-financed, all-cash development to include the 1,500-room hotel convention facility with 250,000 sq.ft. (23,227 sq.m) of meeting space including a 95,000 sq.ft. (8,826 sq.m) column-free ballroom, an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis facilities, a full-service spa and other related resort amenities. The David Harman-designed championship 18-hole, par-72 golf course will wrap around the resort, providing a lush terrain with magnificent views and is anticipated to open prior to the hotel. The construction and opening date of the hotel is to be announced (tentative opening date is 2006).
Rosen has also donated funding to the University of Central Florida for an adjacent 20-acre (8-ha) site that will be the future home of the University of Central Florida’s Rosen School of Hospitality Management to be located in the heart of Orlando’s tourism and convention mecca. The 1,000-student facility will offer a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management within a setting that exposes students to every aspect of the hospitality experience.

plans for a 5-star hotel in Istanbul, Turkey. The 249-room
Mövenpick
Hotel Istanbul will be situated in the Levent business
and banking district, 10 minutes from Bosporus and 30 minutes from Atatürk
International Airport. Mövenpick plans to open the hotel in the
summer of 2002.
Guestrooms include spacious large bathrooms, which are separated from the living area by a glass wall. The rooms offer state-of-the-art technology including high-speed Internet access and electronic concierge services, such as checkout via television. A business center and an executive lounge meet the requirements of international business travelers. Other facilities include a health club with an integrated spa, Turkish bath, sauna, Jacuzzi and beauty salon.
The hotel will offer a 180-seat restaurant that
will serve trendy dishes from the East and West, theme buffets and
regional specialties. A chic sushi bar, cigar lounge, mezzanine lounge
and breakout café are
additional F&B outlets. For conferences and functions, nine meeting
rooms are available, and a 5,382 sq.-ft (500 sq.-m) ballroom
will accommodate 300 people.
