Rezidor SAS Hospitality Plans To Operate Two Hotels In Turkey
Rezidor SAS Hospitality, Brussels, has signed an agreement with the
Pension Fund Republic of Turkey to operate two hotels in Turkey.
In Ankara, Turkey, a renovation of the current Hotel Stad is in progress,
and the new Radisson SAS Hotel is scheduled to open in late 2004. The
Hotel Stad was one of the first skyscrapers in Ankara, located close
to the main cultural and business center, overlooking the City Park,
former parliament, the State Opera and Ballet and the Central Bank.
The new hotel will offer 190 guestrooms, one restaurant, a bar and meeting
rooms.
In Istanbul, The Radisson SAS Maçka is replacing the Hotel Maçka,
which is being completely demolished. When completed in 2005, the Radisson
SAS Maçka will have 145 guestrooms, two restaurants, two bars,
five conference rooms for up to 300 people, a health club and underground
parking facilities. The hotel will be Radisson SAS’ second hotel
in Istanbul. Its first property here was the 246-room Radisson SAS Conference & Airport
Hotel, which opened in September 2000.
Crestline Will Manage Georgia Tech Hotel And Conference Center
Crestline Hotels & Resorts, Bethesda, Maryland, has been chosen
to manage the 252-room Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference
Center. The high-tech, upscale hotel is part of the new Technology Square complex
that encompasses a three-block area in the heart of Midtown
Atlanta.
The L-shaped, eight-story hotel is being constructed
at an estimated cost of US$47 million. The property will be connected
to the Georgia Institute of Technology’s new Global Learning
Center and overlooks a fully landscaped courtyard for guests and meeting
attendees. The property is wholly owned by a new entity created by
the Georgia Tech Foundation.
The hotel and other Georgia Tech facilities will offer state-of-the-art
technology features, including the ability to project videoconferences
around the world with simultaneous translations. The 21,000 sq.ft. (1,950
sq.m) of function space features 18 meeting rooms, including a 7,200-sq.ft.
(670-sq.m) ballroom that is divisible by six. Other amenities include
a 312-seat conference dining room, lobby bar, club lounge, indoor swimming
pool and a fully equipped fitness center. In addition, the adjacent
Global Learning Center offers three 750-seat amphitheaters, a 125-seat
amphitheater, a 250-seat amphitheater, plus a selection of meeting rooms.
John Q. Hammons Plans US$36 Million Embassy Suites
Springfield, Missouri- based John Q. Hammons Hotels
has announced plans to develop and manage a new US$36 million, 265-suite
Embassy Suites Hotel in Saint Charles, Missouri.
The 11-story, all-suite hotel will be the first upscale hotel in the
area and will be adjacent to the planned Saint Charles Convention Center.
The strategic combination of the hotel and the new convention center
will add more than 144,000 sq.ft. (13,378 sq.m) of meeting space, with
5, 200 sq.ft. (483 sq.m) of flexible meeting space on-site at the hotel.
The Embassy Suites Hotel will feature a variety of amenities for business
and leisure travelers. It will offer a private bedroom in every suite,
a living room with a sofa sleeper, wet bar, refrigerator, microwave
and coffeemaker. In addition, each suite will be equipped with two color
televisions, Internet data port and customizable voicemail, Nintendo
64 and WebTV. Other amenities include a sports bar, restaurant and lounge,
fitness center, complimentary business center, and an oversized indoor
pool and whirlpool.
Construction of the Embassy Suites Hotel is expected
to begin in early 2003, followed by the hotel opening in late 2004.
The interior of the hotel will be designed with the signature atrium
style of John Q. Hammons hotels and will feature a décor that
complements the charm of restored historic Saint Charles.
Rialto Hotel Is Warsaw’s First Boutique
Hotel
When the Rialto Hotel opens in March 2003, it will
be Warsaw’s first luxury boutique hotel. Privately owned and operated
by MOT zo.o, Warsaw, the 45-room Rialto will offer
its guests the highest standards of amenities and services to both
the leisure and business traveler.
The hotel’s services and facilities will
include a restaurant and bar, a cigar room, two meeting rooms and
private dining for up to 25 people. Guests also will have access to
a fitness room that will offer cardiovascular machines, sauna and
a steam room.
Art Deco in theme and design, all rooms and public
areas have been individually and uniquely designed with original furniture
of the period. The architect and interior designer is DOM Architektury,
Warsaw. John Quero will be the hotel’s general manager and is
a native of London, England, with extensive experience in the hotel
and hospitality industry having started his career in 1980 at the
Carlton Tower Hotel in London.
