Boston And Dublin Hotel Groups Join Forces
Saunders Hotel Group has
announced that it has joined forces with Ireland’s
Jurys Doyle Hotel Group to renovate the former police
headquarters in Back Bay into a 225-room hotel. The international alliance
will bring more than 200 urgently needed hotel rooms to Boston and revitalize
a landmark city building. Through the cooperative effort, the Jurys
Doyle Hotel Group will fund the historic renovation of the property
and will provide day-to-day operations management upon the hotel’s
completion and opening in early 2004. The Saunders Hotel Group will
purchase the property from the city of Boston and will develop it into
a 225-room hotel and grant a long-term ground lease to Jurys Doyle. “This
is a win-win agreement for both of our companies and
for the city of Boston,” says Gary Saunders, chairman of the Saunders
Hotel Group.
The hotel will offer guests a health club, five meeting rooms with 3,000 sq.ft. (279 sq.m) of meeting space, a 70-seat restaurant and a 75-seat lounge. The architect of the US$23 million project is The Architectural Team, Chelsea, Massachusetts.
