  • Kimpton Announces West Palm Beach Property
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Group LLC has plans to operate The Harrick, an all-suite, luxury boutique hotel being developed in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida. It is scheduled to open in the fall of 2007.

The hotel will stand more than 20 stories and will feature 138 spacious suites, ranging in size from 630 sq. ft. (59 sq. m) to 1,200 sq. ft. (111 sq. m). The majority of guestrooms will be one-bedroom suites, while 20 will be two-bedroom suites. Each will feature a fully equipped Poggenpohl kitchen with Sub-Zero appliances.

A rooftop pool deck with lounge seating will offer guests cocktails to accompany the view. The hotel also will feature a living-room lobby, fitness center and a chef-driven restaurant.

Shangri-La Resort, Spa Coming To Seychelles
SEYCHELLES Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement with TriGranit Development Corp. to manage the Shangri-La Resort and Spa, Seychelles, opening in 2007.

The luxury, 55-villa resort will occupy its own private island—the 9-ha. (23-ac.) Long Island off the coast of Mahe in Northeast Seychelles. All the villas, by Budapest-based Fazakas Gyorgy Architects Ltd. and Dubai-based Interior Motives, will feature infinity-edged plunge pools facing the ocean, spacious sundecks and outdoor showers.

The resort’s CHI spa will be poised on the island’s central hilltop. Guests will be transported by a funicular railway, which also will stop at the island’s wedding chapel.

Dining options will include a lobby lounge and bar, an all-day coffee shop, a specialty restaurant and poolside bar. Additional facilities offered will be a kids’ club, Internet room and fitness center with tennis court. An island library also will be available.

    Rocco Forte Expands Into Prague
PRAGUE Rocco Forte Hotels will open a 5-star, 101-room hotel created from a complex of five historical buildings in the heart of the Czech Republic capital. The largest and most important of these structures is St. Thomas’ Monastery, which dates back to the 1400s. The hotel is scheduled for completion in 2007.

Key historic features such as cloistered terraces, wooden ceilings, wine vaults and stone arches will be incorporated into the hotel design. New additions will include a glassed-in courtyard, which will become the hotel’s main restaurant.

Other features will include a bar occupying the monastery’s barrel-vaulted, double-height hall, a second restaurant/bar, a 150-sq. m (1,615-sq. ft.) function room, a meeting facility with business center, four meeting rooms, two boardrooms, and a health and fitness center, including an 80-sq. m (861-sq. ft.) gym along with four treatment rooms, sauna, steam room and a relaxation area.

Guestrooms will consist of 83 double or twin rooms and 18 suites, all in excess of 40 sq. m (431 sq. ft.). The majority will contain five-piece bathrooms, including a walk-in shower.

Rocco Forte Hotels is working on the Prague hotel with local architect Martin Kotik of Architects Studio Omicron-K and London-based interior designers RDD.

Fairmont To Manage Idaho Resort Components
DONNELLY, IDAHO Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has agreed to manage the luxury hotel and residences at Tamarack Resort, Donnelly, Idaho, being developed by Agassi Graf Development LLC and Bayview Financial L.P. This will include two locations: a classic resort hotel in Tamarack’s village and a mid-mountain site. Both properties are scheduled to break ground this summer, with completion anticipated in 2008.

The village location will feature about 225 condo-hotel units, along with a private residence club, including a European-style spa. The mid-mountain location will feature an estimated 35 private residences, all with ski-in/ski-out access. The mid-mountain location also will offer a semi-private restaurant.
