Hot Wheels, Barbie At Hiltons

-- Hotels, 9/1/2007

Hilton Buenos Aires and Hilton Toronto this summer offered special theme guestrooms appealing to children. The immensely popular Barbie suite, which debuted at the Buenos Aires property in 2004, was joined this year by a boy-centric offering, a Hot Wheels suite. Both suites, including adjacent parent rooms, were booked solid all summer long at a rate of US$300 per night.

Barbie fans were escorted to the room in a Barbie car. The room itself was decorated with accessories of the famous fashion icon, including Barbie linens, pillows and vanity. The Hot Wheels Room was outfitted with the equipment of a racing champion—race tracks, fast cars, walkie talkies, movies and games. The room features two twin beds, one designed as an auto repair shop and the other as a fast car, with a siren lamp and neon lights. The package included theme lunch and princess makeovers for the girls at the Hilton Health Club Fitness & Spa.

Theme rooms are a summer tradition at Hilton Buenos Aires, which previously featured Batman and Superman rooms. “It has become a trademark of the hotel,” says Analia Ogando, business development director. The hotel will try a new theme room again next summer.
