Great Wolf's Spas A Pampered Kid's Dreamsicle

-- Hotels, 12/1/2007

Waterpark resort giant Great Wolf Resorts Inc. has launched a brand of ice cream-themed kids spas called Scooops (yes, with three O's) at most of its North American properties. The spas, with prices slightly lower than for comparable adult treatments, feature ME! Bath products that sound more like soda fountain treats—ice cream bath fizz, shower sherbet scrub, sundae topping foot mask and moisturizing body icing. Each treatment comes in a variety of inedible but scented “flavors,” like chocolate-covered strawberry, coconut cream pie, gummy worm and chocolate brownie. Other spa offerings include nail gems, decals, temporary henna tattoos and customizable pedicure sandals.

Geared toward kids ages 8 to 12, Scooops spas have the look of modern ice cream parlors—chocolate-colored walls, retro swivel stools and a pedicure sofa resembling an oversized ice cream sundae. Music, meanwhile, is more upbeat than one would expect at a traditional spa. “It is a little more fun and kid-friendly,” says Christine DeBrozzo, corporate spa director for Madison, Wisconsin-based Great Wolf. “Our technicians treat our kids just like they would treat our adults—but they talk to them a little different, of course.”
