Hot Opening: The Elysian, Bali
By Staff -- HOTELS Magazine, 1/1/2006
The Elysian presents a refined blend of traditional Balinese architecture with modern clean lines. The dominant design theme is the sense of openness created by oversized wood-framed windows and doors. The use of natural materials including volcanic stones, raw teak, timber and slate pay homage to the traditions of the location.
The resort’s intimate ambiance is defined by the individual villas, each with its own 8 meter by 3 meter pool. Passage through a private gate leads guests to a walled garden and on to the airy interiors of the villas. Each is composed of a bedroom, a spacious bathroom and an open-plan living space, which flows seamlessly to the sundeck and the pool.
