Hot Opening: The Keating Hotel, San Diego
By Staff -- HOTELS Magazine, 8/1/2007
The Keating Hotel, the first luxury boutique hotel in San Diego, combines Italian design with sophisticated and personalized service. Designed by Pininfarina, making its debut in hotel design, the Keating is centrally located in the heart of San Diego's famed Gaslamp Quarter in a historical building originally constructed in 1890. The 35-room, 4-story hotel boasts eight suites and an environment characterized by pure, clean, ergonomic design, where breathtaking form meets function in every detail.
Conceived and operated by San Diego-based lifestyle group Bond Urban Habitat and developer Edward Kaen, The Keating redefines urban hotels in Southern California. With its historic Romanesque Revival façade and contrasting modern sleek interior, The Keating is poised to solidify downtown San Diego's burgeoning chic metropolitan status. The Keating's Italian roots shine through, from the Lavazza coffee machines to the Lauretana mineral water, with Gancia wines and Jacuzzi baths, all designed by Pininfarina.
