The Shangri-La Hotel Suzhou, located between the 28th and 51st floors of the Metropolitan Tower, offers 390 spacious and tastefully designed rooms and suites with magnificent views of the city's New District. Suzhou, a few hours drive from Shanghai, is famous for its gardens, including two listed as World Heritage sites. The city was a major cultural center during the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as a stop on the silk trading route. It's often referred to as the "Venice of China" because of its canals.
The Shangri-La is the first international deluxe hotel in Suzhou's National New and Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The hotel's six restaurants and bars provide guests with a range of dining and entertainment options. The renowned Shang Palace presents modern Cantonese and Huai Yang cuisine. Café Soo serves international and Asian cuisine. Restaurant Suntory features authentic Japanese kaiseki. Club Red Bar provides upbeat music, a lounge bar, private karaoke and wine, while the Lobby Lounge creates the perfect venue for meeting and relaxation.
The premier Horizon Club floors comprise 100 rooms and a Horizon Club Lounge on the 48th floor and with sweeping views of the city. Meeting and banquet facilities include the 1,310-sq.m (14,102-sq.ft.) pillar-less Grand Ballroom, capable of hosting 1,200, and the 478-sq.m (5,146-sq.ft.) Metropolitan Ballroom, which holds up to 350 guests. There is also an auditorium and five function rooms.
The Health Club features a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The gymnasium offers state-of-the-art cardiovascular and weight training equipment, plus a steam sauna and Jacuzzi, complemented by an indoor swimming pool. Outdoor facilities include two tennis courts and a synthetic mini-golf putting green.
