Hot Opening: Skyline Cosmopolitan Hotel, Toronto
By Staff -- HOTELS Magazine, 5/1/2006
The 25-story Skyline Cosmopolitan Hotel is an elegant and contemporary boutique condominium/hotel that recalls the urban skyscrapers that typify the Manhattan skyline.
The building features bold use of aluminum and granite accentuated by vertical columns that serve as a structural expression of the building’s conception.
The interior package, inspired by Eastern practices such as Zen and Feng Shui, boasts rich fabrics to reflect an aura of serenity and balance, and hallway corridors are dramatically lit using floor-mounted fixtures angled to reflect off the lacquered wall panels.
The lobby is separated from the restaurant by a full-height pivoting door that blends in with the interior architecture to blur the lines between two formal spaces and one open concept.
The overall effect is both serene yet invigorating.
