Hot Opening: Steigenberger Hotel Therme Meran
By Staff -- HOTELS Magazine, 6/1/2006
Italian designer Matteo Thun has created an imaginative hotel with the Steigenberger Therme Meran in South Tyrol, Italy.
The 139-room property, which opened in March, exploits the stylish beauty of quality natural materials like wood and stone. Elegant wooden floorboards run throughout the hotel and rooms all have a wooden clad loggia or a French balcony.
Gilded deer-head lamps with real antlers provide decorative lighting, and open spaces are adorned with crystal chandeliers made of Swarovski stones.
The hotel’s Spa World Premium features nine treatment cabins, an indoor pool, a Finnish sauna and a Turkish steam room, and the hotel also offers direct access to the neighboring Therme Meran spa building via the “bathrobe tunnel.”
The fine-dining restaurant, Wolkenstein, features a showcase kitchen and combines distinctive elements of both South Tyrolean and Italian cuisine with international highlights.
