One&Only Redefines Camping With Luxury Tipi

-- Hotels, 2/1/2008

One&Only Resorts has partnered with British designer Alice Temperley to create the first One&Only Tipi by Temperley, now available to guests at One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius.

Standing 17 feet (5 m) tall and reaching 20 feet (6 m) in diameter, the traditionally hand-stitched canvas structure features a custom-made wood floor and is decorated with jewels, golden fabric and a Parisian glass chandelier suspended from the canopy.

“One&Only is about delivering distinctive experiences fuelled by imagination and style,” says Helen McCabe-Young, One&Only's senior vice president, sales & marketing. “Alice Temperley's creativity and whimsical sense of luxury bring to life the idyllic place for creating memorable moments in a very spectacular setting.”

Adds Temperley: “To me travel is about raw experiences under the stars and discovering the unexpected, not just traditional high-end luxury. The One&Only Tipi truly embodies this, and I cannot wait to spend my first night of many in this magical creation.”

The tipi is available for guests wanting to celebrate romantic moments or honeymoons, those looking to indulge in lavish spa treatments, or simply for those who prefer to drift to sleep under the stars. A variety of packages are available, starting at US$760 per person.
