GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA—Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract with developer HPC Costa Carmel Ltd. to manage a new luxury resort in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Opening in 2010, Rosewood Costa Carmel will combine a resort, residences and spa on 112 acres (45 ha) of oceanfront property with views of the Pacific Ocean and a picturesque backdrop of jungle and volcanic mountains.

The property's design will use native materials and integrate the natural environment into the resort's 80 luxurious suites and 31 two- to five-bedroom casitas and villas. Each suite will offer a private plunge pool, views of the ocean and direct access to the beach. Guests may explore the ecosystem through sightseeing tours and outdoor activities. The resort will feature a 12,500-sq. ft. (1,160-sq. m) spa with 15 treatment rooms.
