MADRID—The Rezidor Hotel Group plans to open a Radisson SAS Hotel in Madrid, Spain's capital city, in late 2009. The Radisson SAS Hotel Madrid Prado will add 54 guestrooms to the Rezidor portfolio.

Located in front of the Prado Museum and next to CaixaForum-Madrid, the hotel, a conversion of an existing building, will offer visitors art and culture right at the doorstep. All 54 guestrooms, including six suites, and all public areas of the hotel will be designed by Sandra Tarruella and Isabel Lopez. Additional services include a restaurant and bar, meeting facilities, a spa and a fitness center.

“Madrid is a city in which we see promising potential for expansion,” says Kurt Ritter, president & CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group. “As Spain's premiere city, Madrid represents a primary market that is important for Rezidor's further development in the country.” Many of Madrid's major attractions are located within walking distance of the hotel, such as Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, Reina Sofia Museum and Gran Via, the main shopping and entertainment avenue.
