Méridien Panama To Open In 2009

-- Hotels, 3/1/2008

PANAMA CITY, PANAMAStarwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide plans to open a Le Méridien in the capital city of Panama. The company has signed a franchise agreement with Bern Hotels & Resorts Panama for the first Le Méridien in the nation.

Scheduled to open in mid-2009, Le Méridien Panama will be located on the edge of the Bay of Panama at Balboa Avenue and Uruguay Street, one of the most scenic avenues in Panama, with unobstructed views of the Panama Canal entrance. In addition, it is within a few minutes drive of the financial center and corporate offices of Panama, making the location ideal for business travelers.

“Le Méridien is thrilled to welcome guests to the first hotel in Panama, where we will provide a curated experience enhanced by an atmosphere of European contemporary refinement,” says Eva Ziegler, the brand's senior vice president. “A favorite among progressive, forward-thinking international travelers, Le Méridien facilitates guest exploration of the arts, architecture, design, cuisine and fashion at each of its vibrant destinations around the world. The culturally rich city of Panama will certainly provide fertile ground for this voyage of discovery.”
