Gaming Potential: Markets To Watch

by Staff -- Hotels, 5/1/2007

MGM Mirage’s Alan Feldman: “The Japan discussion is heating up. There are some discussions in Vietnam where there is some gaming but it’s not big.”

Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s Michael Shindler: “We have no other development announcements, but on the radar are other parts of Asia—Japan is high; Thailand and Korea would be interesting. Some inquiries would be in Asia and some warm-weather destinations in Europe.”

Wynn Resorts’ Steve Wynn: “Macau is still the most exciting in-vestment opportunity in our business. There are other opportunities—if Japan opened up, we will have to take a look at it.”

Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ Corinna Toh: “Japan; The Philip-pines—The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. plans to build an 800-ha. entertainment and gaming complex on the Manila reclamation called Pagcor City; Taiwan—the government reportedly said it is con-sidering allowing casinos on the island.”
