New Courtyard Offers Distinct Cambridge Experience

Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge -- Hotels, 4/23/2008 10:54:00 AM

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) and Meyer Jabara Hotels are pleased to announce the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge, a newly renovated 203-room boutique hotel located on the banks of the Charles River at 777 Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Mass.  Formerly a Radisson Hotel, the 16-story Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge combines the innovative style of Meyer Jabara Hotels with the Marriott International brand to provide a customized guest experience unrivaled in the Boston area.

Located near Cambridge’s prestigious universities and world-class biotechnology campuses, the Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge offers guests unique amenities to provide a distinct neighborhood experience.  Nightly themed activities, such as handcrafted sushi demonstrations, poetry readings, martini-making classes, beer and wine tastings, and live local jazz and blues entertainment will bring the vibrant and eclectic atmosphere of Harvard Square right inside the hotel lobby.

“This hotel is not your average Courtyard by Marriott,” says Tony Schatz of Meyer Jabara Hotels, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge.  “We have incorporated the Cambridge theme into almost every aspect of our guest experience to truly differentiate ourselves from an ordinary stay in the city.”

As part of Meyer Jabara Hotel’s new approach to managing Courtyards by Marriott, Schatz will offer guests a variety of exclusive, themed stay packages at the new Cambridge location.  They include the “Historic Pub Crawl” where guests can sample Sam Adams beer and experience some of the area’s best pubs; the “Godiva Getaway,” a perfect combination of chocolate and romance; the “Business in Cambridge,” which offers amenities that transform an ordinary business trip into a memorable getaway; and the “Food & Wine Escape” that presents New England’s best wine and travel experiences.

“If you are visiting the area for university commencement, business travel, summer vacation or planning a memorable Boston wedding, the Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge offers a one-of-a-kind Cambridge experience to maximize your stay in this historic and world-class city,” says Schatz.

The hotel boasts a variety of guest amenities, including exciting dining and entertainment options, an indoor swimming pool with adjacent observation deck, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a guest laundry room.  In addition, the newly renovated guest rooms boast panoramic views of the Charles River, City of Cambridge and Boston skyline, feature king- or queen-sized beds, a seating area with sofa bed or oversized chair, a large well-lit work desk, telephones equipped with data ports and complimentary wireless internet.  Room rates range from $169 to $499 per night.

The lobby hosts a 24-hour “grab-and-go” food and beverage area called “The Market” as well as a lounge to work, meet and dine.  The Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge also offers 6,000 square feet of bright and welcoming meeting space for business travelers as well as a business center with individual workstations.  Additionally, the large function rooms are ideal venues to host memorable weddings and social affairs.

As the leading select-service hotel brand in the United States, the Courtyard by Marriott Boston/Cambridge will provide guests an exciting, unique and authentic Boston/Cambridge experience.  The hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, managed by Meyer Jabara Hotels of Danbury, Conn.
